Got the electrical just about done, I am not satisfied with the 4 foot flourescent lights (4) that we put up using the t8 bulbs. The lighting actually kind of sucks. Is there a garage specialty store which I can look for stuff in Calgary???

Actually I was putting in insulation yesterday and today and had three heaters going and when it warmed up those lights brightened up.....nice and toasty in there

No, I just bought it at an auction this fall. Fairly mint unit, but doing maintenance items and adding some performance items over this winter to get ready to drive in spring - added Flowmaster exhaust and MST ignition/wires so far. Looking at a 125hp shot of NX Nitrous as well. Engine is original but bored/stroked to a 383, and has the original TPI manifold and valve covers so looks very very stock. Where is this show held and what time of year. Would really appreciate joining a third gen and/or Camaro club.

i'm in deer run, it is a pretty old pic, its kinda unfortunate...it looks pretty good in pictures, but i cant say it looks great up close, the paint is BAD..by that i mean..its been painted orange..and theres only clearcoat on the fenders and doors, not really on the hood, and its peeling off the roof, also the fabric on the headliner is draping. but i can promise that in about 2 months it'll be much much better.
well.. it requires 2 k&n filters..each of which are $51 from auto value, i may keep whats there and just order two filters from K&n, i'm not entirely sure yet.
oh cool, that's just south of me, i'm over in Acadia.

guys I finally got my camaro tucked away in the new garage tonight. Have a nice heated insulated drywalled place to work on my cars. Slowly I will start mudding inside the garage and have the floor acid stained 240 v compressor for one outlet and a welder for the other.
where the car sat it was just pavement under it with snow all around it I let her warm up for about an hour and then just gassed the **** out of her and blasted out of that hole.
then I think I blew another tranny mount when i got it on the pavement and floored the crap out of it.........
Its been a while, but ive made some progress with the mini tub. Here's a few pictures, they looked really good until I put the body sealant on, its funny, you think welding should be harder than putting on some silicone. If anyones interested the rest of the pictures on cardomain; seach sandman_17. After i took out the measure tape, and the pass side stock tub has 11.5" of width, to the newly tub'd drivers side which now has 13.75" of width. I just need to make offset lca's so all that space is usable.
haha, yeah i do. i currently dont have another vehicle. and i'm a really good driver, so unless theres fresh snow that hasn't been driven on, i'm pretty good at controlling it. when theres fresh snow, i just take the bus hah.

My car is a total gong show on anything aside from perfectly dry clean pavement... a hint of gravel, water, snow, etc and i'm GONE.
hey, how would you feel about helping me for a few hours sometime? I have a driveline shake that i'm trying to diagnose, and i'd like to bolt on a different set of wheels to find out if my wheels are the problem....

I need to throw brakes back on my car, and re-check the engine first though...
i'd love to! i've got a interesting shake on my camaro..but its my motor mounts...thus them being replaced next week with my wheel bearings, then all thats left is a over heating issue.. it runs amazing at night when its like -5...but as soon as it warms up it misses and overheats..so i'm doing a tune-up on friday as well as my exhaust, then if the tune up doesn't help, then i'm going to look into the EGR and vaccuum leaks

How many KM's on your car? Sounds like you're replacing everything there is? Was it not very well kept before you got it?
i think the kid who had ti drove it into the ground. but its alright with me, i get parts at cost, my uncle is hardcore into restoring and rebuilding cars.. he had a 91 iroc that he put a bored 350 into and a stick shift, it was purple, had a roll cage...and the best part is my grandma drove it. haha. so he's pretty stoked on helping me with parts and whatnot. in July its going in for rust repair and a paint job which i'm pretty excited about haha.
Heh, yeah, the 240's doing fine. Just blew $700 on a bigger turbo for the thing actually. >.<
Oh well, I am moving back to Calgary in a couple months, and once I'm back I plan to buy a house, and once THAT little detail is out of the way, the car gets taken apart and twice as many cylinders are getting stuffed under that little hood. Either gonna be an LS1 that's mostly a stock build, maybe a cam, intake, etc, or, been toying with the idea of like a gen 1 with an HSR/megasquirt. Thing uses megasquirt right now and I freaking love it, so I'd have no problems using it on another motor..
Wifey's all good with it, she lets me tinker all I like, but she misses the T/A (she's pressuring me to get another fbody LOL), and yeah, my brother sold my white one to some dude who owns a shop and is apparently giving it the love and attention I could never afford to. So at least it has a good home.

I'm good! Drop by once you hit calgary again and i'll take you for a spin in the BEAST. That ISKY solid flat cam made an ANIMAL out of this car. It's... *quick*, and the kind of gnarly you can only get from a solid cammed, carbed V-8 with free flowing exhaust ($900 worth of upgrades since you saw it - in exhaust alone).
Haven't had a chance to touch it much lately, but all I need to do is bleed brakes, and put the valve covers back on and I should be good to go...
Heh, yeah it's a GT2860, upgraded from a t25. So even though it's bigger, the fact that it's ball bearing makes it spool up every bit as fast as the old one.. You know how when you have a glass of water and ice, and you turn the glass the ice stays more or less stationary? Well the new turbo does that when you hold it vertical, lol.
Still running it at 7 psi though. The car has to live through a trip through the rockies and then once I'm home, I'll mess around with it. But waiting is the very definition of torture for me..
Anyway, yeah, I think it's going to be time for a new engine soon, and I would very much like to get an ls1 in there. People have done it before, and it's a tight fit but very doable. Fbody shifter on the t56, GTO front sump oil pan, there are kits out there for modding your k member and tranny mount.. then I'll probably just weld up some sort of side exit exhaust, because there's no way in hell it would have any clearance otherwise. And it's already lowered 2.5". But we'll see what happens. I am also thinking about getting a gen I crate motor but then that's an iron block and it might mess up the balance. Since the stock engine's iron, I'm hoping an LS1 doesn't weigh much more, but I haven't actually crunched the numbers yet.
Far as what the wife wants, she just misses the old one, so probably any thirdgen would make her happy. And there's the other thing I've bene considering, pitching the 240 altogether and just building another t/a, the right way.
Well, I guess time will tell.. Love to hang out sometime, see the car, etc. I need to start paying attention to this forum again. :P I also somehow managed to find myself running the vancouver 240sx club, so I need to find some way to pawn that off on someone else in the next couple months. heh.

Heh, turbos are fun, I have to say.. I've sure learned a shitload about forced induction, engine tuning theory, etc with this car.. but I'd trade turbo power for equiv. NA power any day.
Anyway the draw of another muscle car is powerful, but then I think about other stuff like how the 240 weighs like 3000 lbs with me in it, my tools, spare tire, full tank of gas, full interior, everything. But 4 cylinder engine = fail. And so is the whole import style with the zipties everywhere, 195 tires stretched on a 9" rim, etc.. Which is what leads me to the idea that I need to take the best of both worlds, and throw a v8 in the s13 chassis. I just hope I can afford it after buying a house. If not, I might have to *shudder* rebuild the ka with forged internals and shoot for around 300 whp or so.. Which isn't too difficult considering it made 200 whp with stock internals on only 7 psi out of a turbo that ran out of breath 1500 rpm before redline?

It depends I can get a 1968 lt1 thats a drop in and the guy i know has 480 hp coming out of that and that one is 800 bucks and a drop in But I dont want to go that much hp cuz a I like to drive my car all the time and be I don't feel like reinforcing the car so it wont twist in half.
It depends I am not in a rush and am shopping around I spoke to a buddy of mine who knows a guy out in high river with all sorts of wrecked pick ups.

duderjay, honestly thats a pretty wicked deal! if that 480hp lt1 is in decent condition (you didnt mention how mayn kms) i would jump on that. its not very difficult to (gupl) detune an engine .. if you really dont want that much power. even if i was to sell you a 5700 vortec longblock for $300, it would cost ~$500 for a decent rebuild. but then you just have a stock 5700 vortec.

[edit] just noticed to mentioned you want 350hp at the wheel, assuming 20% drivetrain loss that 420hp at the fwheel. pretty close to the lt1s rating.

I have my mind set right now on a vortec 350 and 300 bucks sounds real good to me. But it wont be a stock vortec when I am finished.
I am actually thinking of buying that lt1 it came out of a 68 vette and he has a second one thats a short block he wants to throw in as well I may buy em and stick em in something later
that vortec is it in fairly ok shape I am really interested in that

yeah your right problably for me 350 fwhp would be much better. maybe 325 fwhp better than the 170 fwhp stock I am running

a vortec engine would be head and shoulders better than a '68 LT1 style engine. The whole 2pc RMS, big flat tappet cam, low efficiency heads, etc etc of a "480HP 68 SBC" would be much more suited to a stickshift high gears carbed car (like mine). I don't think it's something you would enjoy....
A $300 vortec long block is something i'd jump on... Zander, what kind of damage does the engine have? is it running, etc?
hey sonix if you want me to give you a hand checking the other stuff out I got my own personal dial indicators I could bring, one of em is real tiny with a needle for the tip.

Yep, had it balanced, then rebalanced...
Axles look good, but I guess they don't need much bend, or twist, before they'd be bad...
Once it's warmer i'm taking a guy from work for a spin... He's a vibration specialist, and general guru.
Then i'll try the dial indicator on axles and whatnot. I really don't want to pull the cover off the pumpkin
Hey everyone, just moved from Ontario, about 45min SW of Toronto, i'm in lethbridge but i'm trying to find the f-body guys out here. Ii have a 1987 iroc-z G92 5.0l AUTO WITH ABOUT 204 000KM i have built a few engine for it and have just recently finished my last 305 it puts down 249rw/hp and 329rw/tq. And i drove it across country to break in the motor she ran awsome for a street race motor in the winter. I got about 650-700km to a tank. Anyway i don't wanna list too many details about it but it's far from stock and i'm having some issues with getting an out of province saftey here, they don't seem to like the fact i have weld in subframe connectors and modified engine. Any help from someone who can do out of province safteys would be awsome, I really don't wanna have to move back home just becuase i can't get a saftey here, i'm more than willing to drive to Calgary if someone hooks me up. Back home i did alot of work on fourth gens and did a few ltx and lsx swaps into third gens so if anyone needs help with anything i'd be willing to lend my experience. I'll post some pics of my ugly girl. Back home i could run a decent 14.2 with my old motor now i should be able to pull off a 13.8 no problem, i'm not sure what ill effect the altitude will have on my car here. And thats with my car weighing in at 3540lbs without me in it. It does have a trailer hitch and sub frame connectors

Bad or worn pinion/carrier bearings aswell as bad rear axle bearings could cause a nasty driveline vibration. For the time it would take to check them it's worth a try. A bent axle would most likely be noticable at any decent speed, you'd also probably notice brake pulsing or rubbing.

Hey, ive got a few engine q's. Has anyone tried out the lunati voodoo cam line. Im thinking of putting one of their bigger hydraulic flat tappet sticks in the mighty mouse. Or has anyone had good results with others like comps ext. energy line. Im looking for something in the .525-.550 lift range and anywhere from 2500-7000 (probably solid lift if its going to be in the northern part of that range). I just got the short block back from the machine shop, and im starting the build up (gotta love second hand engines, was supposed to be in good shape...lol). Also, anyone using nitrous,(say 100 or more shot) with some compression.... any head gasket recommendations. I have a set of good felpro's but im afraid the cylinder pressure may be too much once the giggle juice attacks. The heads will use ARP hardware. Thanks

I myself only fool around with the timing fuel pressure and small things as far as tuning goes, TPI'S are a bitch to tune cuz you need all the proper tuning and equipment to bunr new proms for them, back home i kno of 3 guys who brun and tune TPI cars, I had 1 of them make a new chip for my car after i built the new motor, but my car has always had great fuel economy on the highway, city kinda suck maybe 320-380km to a tank all city driving.
Sorry man I don't, but Fairbanks is looking for maybe just maybe one or two field service techs (field service engineers)
