Well im glad i dont plan on buing a new car any time soon then. Looks like according to the government its safer to do more than 150kph in an older car than a new one.
Hmmmm?
I cant wait to spank me some vets and mustangs on the highway. Govt are a bunch of morons.

Meh, doesn't affect me at all. It's a crappy bill to attempt to pass through for people who want to buy new cars, since realistically 150 km/h isn't that high at all.

*Just a little Vortec set up*
who gives a sh*t. you can't even go 150 kph on the highway its against the law. So whats the big deal???? Seriously who the hell is it going to affect? Mom and Pop drivning around with thier kids in the car? Or some immature A$$ Clown burning around town and the high ways posing a threat to other people on the road and maybe killing mom and pop with thier kids in an accident?
Maybe the insurance rates would go down on the newer vehicles.
I'll take it to the track my insurance will stay cheap and I don't have to worry about other people on the road
thats the thing...
if theres a 92 mph speed limiter on a car, your 1/4 mile slips will all say xx.xx sec @ 92mph
so taking a car to the track becomes pointless... you cant go faster than 92 EVER!
i understand the idea behind the bill, but the way it was implemented is incorrect IMO

How about just about any newer vehicle at the drag strip?
Anything near 3500lbs and having at least 250hp is going to trip about 95mph in the 1/4 mile. Many newer cars can easily acheive mid 14's. New performance cars are in the 13's. Aka, they will not be able to run to their potential at the track. Heck the new V6 Camaro's should be capable of bottom 14s.
There will have to be a way to disable it. It may be as simple as re-programming the PCM if its internal. External could be more difficult, but i'm sure someone will find a way around it soon enough.

Does seem kinda lame. I was hoping to see how my gta runs when I have 370rwhp against a z06.. Oh well.
Firstly, it most likely won't become law. Secondly, according to that link, it only applies to newly manufactured cars after Jan 1, 2010 (which we've passed). So it would only affect new Z06's, which means you could still run older ones.
I hate being late to the party, but this is the first I heard of this. Frankly, Im more concerned with the proposed NS Laws regarding lowering and suspension mods.
Regardless. Looking at this, I may regret the day I scoffed that the 175mph stock limiter on my daily driver (2004 Grand Prix GT2) was too slow to be any fun. :-P
