Originally posted by Catchen22 but why hasn't anybody mentioned Precision Power?
Precision Power, along with Orion, has been bought out by DEI(Directed Electronics Inc.),which are the makers of Viper,Hornet,Rattler alarms, and a few others. It just seems that ever since DEI expanded its line to video and audio and bought out these other companies, that these once high-end audio manufacturers(PPI,Orion)seemed to have lost a bit of its quality. Now,DEI is certainly not a bad company at all. They manufacter some of the best 12v security systems around. And their line of video systems are so far some of the best that I have installed and dealt with. I attended one of DEI's training seminars and they said that they are still working on some of the newly acquired lines and making a few changes to them. Once all the engineering changes are finished, everything will be back in order. Seems like DEI tried to change a few things and the PPI and Orion lines just didn't meet the quality their longtime loyal customers have come to expect from these products.
Planet Audio makes some pretty good amps...and Im liking a new brand I heard called DHD, they aint to bad at all . If my freaking JBL would ever show up, I'd prolly put that to.

Ya, it's wierd, but I don't own a camaro and I don't think that anyone would want a picture of my Mazda3 on the site....lol. TC Holliday
I HAD A....
89 Camaro RS 2.8L 5-speed
Gun metal Grey
The Camaro has been sold...
I am kinda sorta looking for a new one if its what I want....Gunmetal drop top manual 350 iroc if possible excellent condition....
I've owned quite a few amps in my day, most of it was low $$ crap. The first real amp I bought was my PG XS2300 which powers my POS MTX sub, and does an excellent job of it! I'll be installing a Boston Pro 10 within the next week and I have no doubt that the PG will perform excellently. The XS line is their "low $$" line froma few years ago, but I gotta say it performs flawlessly!! I have a Planer Audio amp running my highs. Not bad, but a little too much background noise IMO. I;m waiting for a good deal to come up on ebay for a 4 channel PG XS amp to complete my setup. If I ever need to step up my sub amp, I will probably go to a high end PG or a Memphis class D.
As per my recent experience w/ several amps (Planet Audio, Alpine, JBL, Eclipse) GO PLANET AUDIO!! None of the aformentioned amps run 1 ohm exept for planet audio...the JBL says it does, but it wouldnt for me, and the Eclipse says it does, and it does fine for the sine sweeps, but not for music. The Alpine just says only 2 ohms. The Planet Audio (TT1250D) did a nice 151.6 dB on 2 Eclipse Aluminum cone subs, and the JBL did a very inpressive 148.3 dB on one Eclipse Aluminum cone sub. On order is a Planet Audio TT2250D .

Diamond Audio- very very good
Thease are my 3 favorites. I have 10 year old presicion power artists series ans they freakin rock.
Freinds dont let friends buy Sony Amps.
I agree... JL Audio is the best amp on the market right now. The clarity in those are amazing. My last amp was a PPI and i loved it, except it was power hungry, so my lights would dim...
I love my memphis but it keeps killing my ****ty audiobahn subs i'd like to get a better sub maybe brahma or something that the memphis can't destroy in 5.2 secs
nothin can touch TRU Tech for sq and spl amps
i got 2 of the T2.100's. 1 running my IDMax12 at 4ohms pushin 550w to it and the other to my fronts which r ID cd1pro mini horns and ID6's.
for spl gotta get the SH1. does 6000w rms and barley even gets warm.
as for fav my list
Tru Tech
old skool orion
arc
zapco
avionixx
us amps
i just bought my second ample audio amp. already have an a240x pushin my 12" type-r, now i got an a210x to push my crystal 3-way comps. i'll be selling off the old school (remember wires coming out of the amp instead of terminals?) rockford that ive got in there (should be able to get some decent change for it). its hard to find ample amps that people want to get rid of; most people who buy them dont want to give them up.
Lets see my favorite I have owned was my Planet Audio. I have been pleasently surprised with the ability of my current crunch which is several years old (bought it cheap from a friend). The only one I ever had a real problem with was the Alpine I had the just quit one day for no reason.
If you like Xtant but dont want to spend that much, try mtx. They are the same company. Same quality asXtant but cheaper and just as much power. Im running 2 Mtx Thunder1501's Class D mono amps, each on a Alpine Type R, and a Mtx Thunder1004 4 channel for 2 sets of MB Quart components.
