Fosgate is a good amp. But IMO Autotek is WAY better, just from my personal expereinces. I have had a Fosgate fry because I ran 2 4 ohm voice coil subs at 2 ohm. :sillylol: So I don't buy Fosgate amps anymore.

My current amp (xplod) amazingly hasn't fried yet. The only problem I have with it is that it won't accept my Type-R 4 ohm when I parallel it...but that will be cured w/ the audiobahn...and I will also add another Type-R

I personally like Cadence amps. They are made by the same company that makes Autotek. I bought a Power Ackoustiks amp that lights up neon blue and it is alright but my favorite is either the cadence or an Orion Cobalt cheater amp I got.

Now I have heard and seen RE Subs. The last competition I went to, the guy in Super Street 1-2 has 2 XXX 15"s. Hit a 160.3 if my memory serves me correctly. And are the cleanest subs I have every heard.

Phoenix Gold makes everyhing...subs, amps, amp kits, interconnects, capasitors, etc...and they do it very, very well. The last comp guy with three PG Xmax 12" subs in his RS lost by .1 Db to a guy with 4 planet audio carbon fiber 12" in a Civic. he hit like 156.7 and the other dude hit 156.8. You shoulda seen that trunk on da camaro....damn. I thought it was gonna take off!

PS...Planet Audio also makes some good amps, along with memphis and Eclipse.

From personal experience: Kicker, JL, and OLD Lanzar OptiDrive (not the new trash). The JL amps are EXTREMLY flexible, plenty of power into any load. There are VERY few amps out there with x-overs as flexible as JL's (Diamond comes to mind).

Amps I haven't had exp with but are on 'wish list': Lunar. Absolutly amazing amplifiers.

Other very notables: Xtant, Zapco, Diamond, Arc Audio, Memphis, US Amps.

KCobain147,

Eclipse is good, but last time i checked you couldnt buy diamond, JL, or Precision Power at circut city, they are some really high end stuff.

Xtant is great but you gotta be a freakin millionare to afford them. only place ive seen them at is tweeter n they want ridiculous amounts of mony for them.

I have ran and installed just about everything from Alpine to Zapco. I have built many SPL competition systems for customers and a few of my own vehicles, personally having the best luck with Memphis,Earthquake,Orion,PPI,and US Amps. I currently have the Earthquake PHD-2 3500 watt classD mono amp in my Expedition pushing eight 12" Earthquake DBX12 subs @ .9 ohms. At the Texas Heat Wave Show,I ran the system about 1/2 to 3/4 power for about 9-10 hours straight, for 3 days, with a few full power demos for spectators here and there. The amp never shut down nor did it ever get too hot to touch. Our shop had just picked up the Earthquake line right before the show, and all of us were very impressed with the amp's performance the weekend at the show. If I had used any other amp in the exact same situation,I believe it would have shut down or at least got hot enough to cook on. The Alpine system I have in my camaro is coming out in favor for Earthquake.

The D2 aka " Shredder " is a 3000 Watt amp, not 3500.

What SPL can you acheive?

The old mobile audio was the best, but that was then. I really like rockford amps, but kicker is pretty good too. For your subs and lower Hz's my favorite is rockford, anything else I would go with Kicker.

What SPL can you acheive?
To the public it is offered as a 3000 watt amp.But mine has been modified by one of the Earthquake engineers by special order. They suppossedly upped the power output to around 4000 watts. But one of our techs at our shop tested it and came back with a 3540w figure @1ohm. My highest SPL score was only 155.1db. I slapped the system together the night before the last competition. That is with a factory battery,a 1F cap, every panel in the truck flexing(no Dynamat yet), and a cd player that kept skipping. When the system is completely finished,I will have another D2 amp,2 Optima yellow tops,4 1F caps,Braces welded to the inner roof and LOTS of Dynamat. And with a new cd player that doesn't skip when I crank it,I should be in the 60's.It's just hard to compress a big cabin like I have and hit high numbers.

90RS3.1-

Yeah, those are the ones. Both the PPI I had, and the Audio Art performed very well. The Audio Art I had was a 50 x 2 and it was powering 2 10" Atomics. The thing actually hit pretty hard and it never had any problems or anything.

I've been runnig a 3 amp system, all Kenwood, in my Iroc since it was new, in all those years only one problem that required a solder on the board of one amp. Thats alot of miles!

Just 2 days ago ordered nearly 2K in new Kenwood gear for my Supra. They get my vote.
