How much can w3's handle?

I'm looking to get a new 12" sub for my mtx thunder 4250D amp. I like what people have said about the SQ of jl audio subs so I'm thinking about a w3. The w3's are rated at 250W rms and my amp is 350W at 2 ohm, 14.4VDC. Can the subs take that much abuse? Or are there other subs I should look at? My first post here on the forum, thanks.

JL 12ws can handle a max imput of 500w. They are an excelent sub and would work nice on that amp if it does what it says. Just make sure that you buy a 12w3-d4. This will alow you to use your maximum out put of your amp. All you need to do is wire the sub in parallel, which is on each of the voice coil running both positive and negetive together. That is if you are only going to run one sub do you wire it that way. If you are going to wire two subs to that amp post your response and i will get back with you on how you need to wire that.

What he said. Unless you plan on running it at max volume at 20hz for 6 hours straight, the 12W3 will be fine. (assuming it's in a proper box and not playing a distorted signal)

Ive got a W3 with a rockford 500 amp and it pushes it very easily, JL's don't seem to take as much power to produce alot of sound like other subs ive heard.
