how good are the sony explode 1200w class d amps

i have been reading up on them and they are class D mono i chanal 1200w and they put out 300wats rms is this good ot bad.
i can get them brand new at a place i know for 195.99 about 200$ a piece, i was thinking of getting two of the 1200w sony explode amps and 2 of there 1200w 400watt rms 12 inch speakers i can get the two speakers for a deal at critchfield for 200$ for two of them.
so in all id only have to pay rufly 400$ for the amp and speakers then worry about the custom fit trunk box after that.
should i do this or not i dont need show winning bass but i want soem realy good stuff that i can be a little proud of.

DONT DO IT!!!
Sony is crap. For $195 shipped you can get a JBL 600.1 that puts out around 700 watts rms.

I have the Sony D class amp and 2 12" Xplods in a QForm enclosure. From what I've experienced, this is a pretty decent combo. But.. My system was a gift! and if I would have bought it, I wouldnt have gotten Sony just because of the bad I've heard of them. For free, I'm not complaining though.

Golden Sony Car Audio Rule: Unless its free.. get something else.

i second the JBL 600.1. my friend loved it and only gave it up to get the MTX81000D. i would get the JBL amp and a pair of Kicker Comps.

there are many other subs out there for your price range, but those are just a pair i found quick. just shop around and post some of your ideas and we will be happy to give some feedback on whatever.

If you plan to run that "1 ohm stable" amp at 1 ohm, make sure it's in a well ventilated location and isn't surrounded by any flammable objects. Even the Sony training guys couldn't say "1 ohm stable" with a straight face when they were hyping up the amps when they came out a couple years ago.

yeah thanks guys

i think it sais in the specs thow that it was 300 watts rms at 4 ohms and 1200 watts over all. what do u mean by 1 ohm stable. here are the specs on the amp i want to get below:

• 1200 Watts Max Power (into 2 ohms)
• 300 Watts x 1 into 4 Ohms, 5-300Hz, 0.4% THD
• 600 Watts x 1 into 2 Ohms, 5 - 300 Hz, 0.1% THD
• 1000 Watts x 1 into 1 Ohm, 5 - 300 Hz, 0.1% THD
• Class D Pulse Width Modulation (PWM): An amplifier configuration where the power supply uses the audio input signal to control the modulation pulse width of the switching transistors. The rail voltage then drives the speakers directly. Offers extreme effiency and lower heat generation.
• Low impedance drive into 1 Ohm
• Variable Lo-Pass/Hi-Pass filters (50-300 Hz)
• Low Boost 0 - 10 dB at 40 Hz
• High current MOSFET power supply: A power supply that employs MOSFET transistors to convert DC to AC. Offers superior thermal stability and more accurate switching.
• MOSFET output stage: An amplifier output stage that employs MOSFET transistors, offering superior thermal stability, faster switching, extended frequency range, and better transient response.
• Aluminum die-cast heat sink
• One-sided terminal layout
• Line-level and speaker-level inputs
• Through outputs
• Gold-plated recessed connectors
• Specifications:
• Circuit System: OTL (output transformerless) circuit, pulse power supply
• Inputs: RCA pin jacks, high level connector
• Outputs: Speaker terminals, Through out pin jacks
• Speaker Impedance: 1 - 8 Ohms
• Maximum outputs: 600W (at 4 Ohm), 1200W (at 2 Ohm)
• Rated outputs (Supply voltage at 14.4V):
• ---300 W (20 Hz - 300 Hz, 0.2% THD, at 4 Ohm)
• ---600 W (20 Hz - 300 Hz, 0.6% THD, at 2 Ohm)
• ---1000 W (20 Hz - 300 Hz, 1.2% THD, at 1 Ohm)
• Frequency response: 5 Hz - 300 Hz
• Harmonic distortion: 0.06% or less (at 100 Hz, 4 Ohm)
• Input level adjustment range:
• ---0.2 - 6.0 V (RCA pin jacks)
• ---0.4 - 12.0 V (High level input)
• Low-pass filter: 50 - 300 Hz, -12dB/oct
• Low Boost: 0 - 10 dB (40 Hz)
• Power supply voltage: 10.5 - 16 V
• Weight: 3.5 kg (7 lbs. 11 oz) not including accessories
• Dimensions: 14 1/8 x 2 x 10 1/2 in. (358 x 50 x 265 mm) (w/h/d) not including projecting parts and controls.

kicker comps for 85 a piece?.....
i'd go with Alpine Type Rs for a little bit more money backed up by a JL 500/1 or JBL 600.1 ...that would make you very proud.
