I think I might be able to get an unkown Delco stereo for very cheap. It works, and the one I have now doesn't. I know that aftermarket ones are better etc, but I really want to keep it cheap and sounding decent. I've been reading up and it seems the Monsoon radios fit, but I don't know what they look like or what their model numbers are. I have attached a pic so maybe someone can help. I did do a search and came up with a ton of arguments that either said it would fit or it won't.... what a useful search... anyways
I think I might not do anyhting right now. I don't listen to the radio, because the car isn't exactly driveable right now. Plus i thought the one I was looking at had a CD player, and it doesn't. I guess i'm picky or cheap. The stereo I have now sort of works, but the rear left and front right speakers don't work and pop etc. I swapped speaker around, and the same posistions always do the same thing. I doubt its the wiring, but i'll heck tomorrow.
the monsoon stereo will say "monsoon" on the radio just below the digital display., but you will need the Monsoon amp for it to be the "monsoon package". best of luck, tom
Monsoon says Monsoon on it.
I picked up a Camaro CD Monsoon deck from a 98 Z. It's currently in my brothers 96 Trans Am. I am not 100% sure if it will work in a non-4th gen since my friend that I got it from couldn't get it to work, he said something about a code but when we hooked it up in my brothers car, it came right on.
you need the theftlock code in order to get the radio/cd/tape to work, if you dont know the code, dont try to put it in cause the radio shuts off after 3 tries or something like that and doesnt let you try to put the code in again, you have to go to a dealer to get the radio to work again.
