Lightening Audio is just cheaper Rockford Fosgate, thats all. And it honestly does the job for me and I've never had an issue with it. I doubt I would ever buy speakers or amps from them but for a capacitor at a decent price, it was definitely worth the money!!

I don't think "capacitor," and "worth the money," are allowed to be in the same sentence...

You guys can say all you want about my lightening audio capacitor but it does the job for me and I've never had an issue with it!!!

it's not about the fact thats its brand is lightning audio... its the fact that its a capacitor.. you dont need one, you should never need a capacitor.. yeah yeah im sure your voltage doesnt drop as low now, but you should first do the big 3 and the h.o. alt, then batteries eventually.. not adding capacitors

OK and when you have number 1 put in a Hight Output Alternator and then number 2 put in an Optima Red Top Battery and then number 3 a capacitor, your voltage doesn't drop off at all!

if you have a high-output alternator and a red top (which a yellow would be better in this case,) then a capacitor is still worthless... by the big three, they are referring to wiring... if you have stock alternator-to-battery, grounding, and small cables in general, you are starving your equipment, and a capacitor is simply a band-aid. a crappy band-aid that will not benefit you in the long run...

exactly what he said... if you have the proper upgrades to your electrical system you dont need a capacitor... EVER

finally after many months of lurking this thread, I finally have my setup I can post. 2 12in 1000w Kicker Comps, in a sub box I made from the sticky, and they are both being powered by 1000w Legacy amp (yes, yes, I know not the best amp) but I got the subs for $150 and I needed something cheap to power them... It works, if I blow this one, I'll look into paying $5,000,000,000 for a new amp...I've had this setup for about 3 months and it sounds great. I don't blair it down the block, mainly to hear the nice double pedal drums in heavy metal (and mess around with friends and rap...) I also added 2 "fins" that the t-tops can nestle nicely and not fly around. (I normally have a blanket over the t-tops and the box and sandwiched between the glass....

my 84 z28 has the canvas hatch cover thing and i have not seen it on any others also haha anyways im looking to stick two 12" kenwood KFC-W3514DVC butt i wanna stick em on the trunk hump because i like having my trunk and i dont wanna render it useless with two subwoofers butt im wondering if anyone has done this and if so can i see a picture and maybe get some dimensions??

I thought of something like that aswell, but I have the two 12" Kicker. If I had some smaller speakers (that required less space) I would have done a box that sat on the hump. I was thinking of something "pyramid-shaped". With one side with the speakers, and the other side with the amp(s)...

the pyramid idea dont sound half bad now that you mention it i fell like duh butt do you mean like /\ or|\ with the flat facing the inside? cuz i dont know how much space i have between the canvas roller and the hump and i dont wanna take it out because i have the defrost window so it cant be tinted and i want my gear hidden butt the pyramid shape will hold up the canvas possibly out of the way i dunno il have to check it out when i get into it i will let everyone know how it goes

Well what I was thinking originally is having it a more /\ shape (but much more flat) and even having the edge hang off a little bit into the hatch well. The main reason why I didn't do it is because I didn't think I could make a "pyramid" big enough to accommodate for two 12inch Kickers...good luck though...

what i was thinking is make it as big as i could fit and then stuff it with polyfill to make up for the size and my subs have a mounting depth of 6 1/2" i think so i think it will just bareley make it

that setup is bad @$$ period!!!! and what ever works for you on the brand man.

This will not sound nearly as good as being in the well, from personal experience...

If you do go this route, make sure you secure the box very well. You will most likely need to put a piece of wood underneath the carpet, and screw the box into it, having the carpet hold the box in place, otherwise you can be decapitated in a car accident...

If I were you, I would design a box that fits perfectly in the well, perhaps down-firing. Make it take up half the well, and then you can still sit stuff on top of it, and on the rear deck as well...

another thing i was considering was hiding the amp in the spare tire compartment and putting two wedge boxes in the bottom corners of the well like \_/ with the subs facing each other butt i dunno still debating im sure ill come to sumthin

I also did think of putting the speakers facing backwards on the pyramid, and possibly porting the box...

porting the box is a must in my opinion sealed boxes dont get deep enough

If you have the space, (ported boxes are MUCH larger,) then you can go for it, but you could put a single 10" in a truck box, toss it in the well, facing rearward, and it will sound amazing... I did this for a while, until I got the itch...

i realize the space advantage of the sealed butt if i packed a ported box with poly fill would that make up for it ive read that polyfill can make the box sound up to 30% larger

Polyfill will not compensate for a ported box. Most people won't even put it in their sealed boxes either. Just make the box the right size in the first place.

i think im just gonna give up and make a well box cuz the hump dont look very possible

i think if i make a well box for my fourth gen i may face the speakers downward or to the back of the car. it will be kind of a stealth look. but i think i might go for the spare tire box, with an 8" or 2

I would face them to rear because you will have a larger percieved bass output. The wave has more time to grow by bouncing off the back of the car and coming back. Facing down is good too.

Sometimes the hatch-firing subs are too high-pitched, but with the right EQ/cross-over modifications, you can fix anything.

wel im going to build a custom box for 89 camaro it's going to hold 2 mtx 9500-15 inch pic comming soon.

Let see how this works. A couple of F-body rear hatch pics. The first was in a 1984 Z-28 I had in the late 90's with a carbed ZZ3 3.73 and a 5-speed. The box held a pr of 10's and the 15's were in there for looks they were lound but no sound quality and to boomy. The secound was a friends 1991 formula 350 firebird the box held a Phx Gold Route 66 amp and x-over and the well housed a pair of Orion IB series 12". They sounded nice.

Just threw it all together to get it working. Need to hide all the wires, move the small amp under the front seats, install my new JBL subs etc.

Did these up for a different ride of mine(don't have any pics of them finished & integrated in the vehicle on this computer), they didn't go in the camaro, however since they are a little different from the mdf / wood boxes everyone makes I thought you guys might get a kick out of em'

Well i just picked up my car last weekend, heres what it has so far, does good with double bass in heavy metal, but it could be better, so everythings getting switched out soon...right now its 2 MTX 12" thunder series hooked to a song xplode amp.

I found that a single 12" woofer is enough for me. It hits hard enough and doesn't overpower my mids and highs...

Setup includes a single dual 2 ohm voice coil Memphis 12" MOJO driven by the 1100 watt sub channel of a Memphis Belle amplifier. The woofer is in a custom built 1.5 cf enclosure with the amp rack built over it, then a steel grate covered with acoustic carpet hides the whole thing from view. I've had the amp for 3 or 4 years now, but the woofer is only a year old.

Pretty much just 2 12'' infinity refrence subs in a custom made box with a 1800 watt kenwood amp. I put two of the classic camaro emblems from the dash on the passenger side on the box under the two subs it looks good and ill get pics of that soon but ive gotten pulled over 8 times for noise disturbance haha.

here's mine, all i got to do is put carpet from my parts car on the box and it done car is a little dirty and i can't find my other pic of my subs lol but there flush with the hump.
