i did this like 6 months ago on a 95 firebird. Dont pay $50 for the dealer to "crack the code"
This mioght not be the dealer code i used, so if it's dead, google for a working one. Heres how ya do it,
press the 2 & 3 numbers at the same time for about 10 seconds; a 2 or 3 digit code will come up; press the am/fm button for about 10 seconds; another code will appear; dial 1-800-537-5140 and enter 106010 followed by the # sign; enter the 4 or 6 digit code from your radio followed by an *; the phone number will give you a 3 or 4 digit override code; enter this code into your radio just as your owners manual tells you to - use the hour and minute buttons to put in the unloc code.
Disclamer* just for legit owners who forgot their lock #'s
I have one of those delcos in my car now and it has never locked up. The dealership here does not charge for it the service writers in the bay do it for free. What makes one lock up? I have removed mine in and out several times with no problems.
Actually, if Noitsnotforsale has the cd player it wont lock at all unless he himself enters a code to activate it. The advanced etr (tape player with steerinwheel controls) will lock up any time power is removed.
