I know this has probaly been done 400 times but I figured id post pics. Install is easy the stock harness plugs right into it just like the stock one. Only thing I have to do was remove the stock metal bracket inside the hole for the radio it was in the way
Brackets fit perfectly and no gaps or anything.

The volume of the radio gets louder as you go faster, to compansate for wind and road noise. When you slow down, the radio decreases volume so your not blaring the radio. Here's a link to show you how to hook up that feature How to on SCV 4th gen in 3rd Gen

Your telling me , the harness just hooks up and there are no mods except for the metal plate behind the deck ??
I could care less about the SCV , I just want a Stock GM CD player , they look better and sound OK for what I need .

Welcome to the club! Almost every Monsoon CD player out of a later model GM truck or camaro will work. Corvette's are different and will not work. You may need to fab up a bracket. I got mine out of a 2000 SS. The only modification I had to do was to cut a little bit of the heater duct out, but that was no problem at all. Other than that, it bolted right it. Next is to do the SCV.

I've been in thirdgens for over 10 years and I have yet to feel anything come out of those vents. So I just sealed it with foam that way laying around.
My dad recently put a CD/Cassette player from an Olds in his Iroc. I fit with about 15 mins or pursueding. Half of the bottom buttons are covered up by the radio bezel but you can still push them. I'll try to get a pic of them tonight. We also needed a harness for it.

It doesn't fit as well as the others because it's not a 1.5 DIN like the stock players and the Monsoon.
It is a VERY tight fit, but all we had to do was bend the metal bracket for the climate controls up a little bit and persuede it in. I think it looks pretty good. Plus it's a CD/Cassette player.
I love the 4th gen CD player install, really clean and better than an aftermarket IMO, i have an aftermarket in mine down since i have amps, subs, etc but when I yank those out, im definatly doing a 4th gen CD deck swap. Nice job
Side mount, the radio out of my 2002 S-10 went right into crrllmich's 91 RS using the mounts already on the radio. Ask with the details of the install. A 2001 S-10 is the exact same radio as the 2002 If anyone does decide to do this, I strongly suggest hooking up the speed sensitive volume. It's not hard to do and it's so cool.
Just got mention I didn;'t have to change the harness...bolted right in.
I am also working on installing a Delco 12 Disc CD changer as well.

OK, I'm new to third generations and need some clarification. I have just aquired an 87 GTA with no radio and would like to install a later cd type factory in it. What do I need to put something like the monsoon in this car?

Phil
Phil: The Monsoon will NOT work because your harness does not have enough wires in it, with that said , can it modified......?? not sure.
I know that the Non-monsoon type cd players will fit right in as noted in previous posts above without any mods to your harness (provided it has not been tamperd with)
If you read the previous posts ( like White93Z's ) that type will work.
Hope that helps.
