144db is nice with 2 12's! Highest I ever got was 136db with 2 10's in an isoberic bandpass with 400 watts 2ohm mono. Is that front load bandpass configuration?

Congradulations!

Re: woot 1ST place USAC modified SPL competition

im debating on building somethig to seal off the hatch area for when i goto my next comp.

i may also ditch the alumapros/enclosures for a custom fiberglass enclosure to fit 4 12's in the same spot, though i would go with a ported box

Rockford Fosgate Is the shiznit. I have two of the power series like you 1 501bd and a 351m. So now I know what I can look foward to, SPL wise. Are you running an eq are anything before the amp?

ported is louder than any other type of box imo.. you can tune it to wahtever you want.. dave i would get 4 12" DD 9512's in a ported enclosure.. that would be insanely loud

nice job man. must be a pretty nice setup, anybody can buy 15 huge beefy subs and make them loud but not many can take a smaller system and make it loud.

Re: woot 1ST place USAC modified SPL competition

Its excellent, of course, to win any competition. I'm impressed, and I don't doubt the skill involved, but why is SPL such a big deal?

It seems like sound quality is much more important...

~130 dB is the threshold of pain...going beyond that for any extended period of time is terrible for your ears, so why build stereos that put out at such ridiculous levels?

Don't get me wrong, I love loud music - who doesn't - but 144dB?! Damn thats loud.

spl is mostly a big deal just cause its the loudest of the loud, not to mention high spl is not easy to achieve. once u get inot the 135-140 db range it becomes very hard to get any louder.
personally i have my system set to my sound quality tastes, its not just all bass by any means.i never went into an sq comp because it is alot of money to do it and be competitive. i also dont actively do spl competitions, i do maybe 2 a year a local car shows.

yeah its hard to sit in the car with it all the way up, when driving i never play it to full volume i prolly have it down inthe 125-130db range when i want to listen to it loud.

130db SPL is VERY loud! I know I had trouble seeing out of any of my mirrors with my old car that had the system.
