From other threads I know that the mechanical skilled make their owns. But for the other, who sells them.
I contacted IRace Motorsports and Jim told me that actually he doesnt build them and doesnt know when he will build them again.
Then there are the ones from Q-logic that don't have the best reputation on the board here. Are they really that bad?
So what are my options?
I do have a set of Q-Logic kick panel pods. The only thing I dislike about them is how far they stick out from the kick panel. This is a disadvantage with a manual transmission like I have because I have to find another place to rest my left foot.
I have built them before ( car audio installer 4 years ago ) Not much to it, just a hot glue gun, cardboard, ducktape, some MDF for rings and a bucket of bondo, oh and I almost forgot some saw dust. Then it is up to you on how you want to cover them. ( Carpet, paint )
I am going to be building a set for my 1990 GTA for a set of 6" alpines in the next month ( not alot of time these days ) I will post pics with step by step.

I am working on the numbers for time and materials. Give me a week and I will have a price, I will have to build a mold first off my set. So they will only fit "6 and tweeter. My car is auto so if someone can email me a pic of the clutch and drivers kick so I can allow clearence it will help. They will be built out of fibreglass not bondo ( I will use the bondo one to make the mold then create the glass ones which can be painted or covered in carpet )
I'm guessing around $300-$400 a set but give me a week and I will have more info.
Hey, go to my cardomain page and check out my kick panels and door panels. I did this for a living for the past eleven years... keep in mind the kicks are not finished yet... they will be carpeted like the doors. For those of you with a manual trans, the best bet is to remove some of the sheet metal from the kick area and build a pod that is recessed allowing for more foot room. You will be surprised how big of a cavity is there, and it is sealed from the outside...
I considered kicks, but I decided to build some door build-outs. Here is a pic (they still have to be sanded some more and then covered) to get you thinkin
I think these are a better way to go since I don't loose any footroom at all and the sound quality is great. BTW, my tweeters are in the A pillar and the crossovers are mouted to a plate where the dash speakers were.
Heres what everyone wants and used to be available.
This helps thanks, I am planning on building simular ones but they will be for a 6" and tweeter and ready for paint ( I just don't like the look of the carpet over the existing kick panel and the sil not matching )these will attach to the existing kick panel. As soon as I have pics I will post to see if there is any interest then.
Might want to look at making them yourself. Lots of good sites to help along the way. Mine cost about $40 total and time. Mine are 4" Rockford components.
Completed in the car. Pass side.
Drives side, lots of room for us stick guys.
This can be done by ANYONE. I have never worked with fiberglass before and I learned by taking my time and searching before I started. Any questions please feel free to ask.
I've looked at crutchfield and ebay at the Q logic panels , I guess I never thought about doing it myself , has anyone used duraglass instead of bondo or regular fiberlass ?
This is exactly how I am building them, Except for a 6" and tweeter. I am building them out of carbon fibre and they should be about $300 plus shipping ( I am just confirming pricing with a supplier )
They are going to hold a 6.5" speaker (Kenwood excelon w/ biample tweeter) and match the door panels I'm making. I figure since our interiors are pretty much "square" making the traditional kick with a rounded speaker would look out of place.
They resin has cured on them, I still have a lot of work ahead of me.
I went ahead and trimmed up the drivers side a few minutes ago, looking pretty good. I also used 3/4" mdf as the baffle and recessed the hole so the speaker will flush mount.
Here are my finished kickpanels. I scrapped the original ones I started and built these for JL Audio XR 525 coaxial drivers. I am willing to make these for any member who would like them. They can be painted to match your interior color as closely as I can. My price is $250 per pair plus ship. They can be made for coaxial or seperate tweeter applications

Good luck selling them here....I had some custom vinyl wrapped door panels listed on here forever......I started out at $225 for the pair and ended up giving them away on ebay for $75.
As far as kickpanels....if anyone is interested ....I would let the one's I made above go for $50 + shipping unfinished, I'm parting out the car.
A bit steep. How much for 1 speaker in a black "ripple style" door panel with power everything. Speaker excluded of course. 5" 1/4 speaker probably.
off topic, but when the speak in the door. what has to be done to the door itself? I image either cutting the metal or drilling holes but any drastic?
I could build a pair of panels for one speaker for about half the price. I would not waste your time building one for a 5 1/4. A rule of thumb in car audio is a larger speaker will out put more sound than a smaller one even with the same amount of power. Plus a 6 1/2 has more ability to handle lower midbass note than a 5 1/4. therefore less distortion and more power handling. The cutting behind the buildout is minimal. Trimming of the panel and some sheetmetal removal is necessary depending on the magnet depth of the speaker. My JL Audio 650 are pretty deep. I can post pics if you wish

The ones that carnut are selling.
I am not 100% sure how they fit in a Manual car since mine is Auto. If I could use someones Manual car as a model I would give a discount on a set of the kicks.... Any takers?
