Rear sound only?

ok so before i got my new headunit, the stock one was all static when you got about 1/4 way up on the volume. I put my new JVC headunit in, and i have to put it all on the rear speakers. I i put anything on the front, All four speakers AND my subs are static. I cant find any problems in the wiring, i plugged a different head unit in, i took all four speakers out and bench tested them one by one. I have no clue whats going on. Any ideas?

Re: Rear sound only?

sounds odd, seems like u checked it all, did u test the wires? check for resistance, wiggle em around might be shorted out. its not too hard you could just run new wires to the fronts

Re: Rear sound only?

Some of the GTA's offered a sound package that included a factory amp. Sounds like that's what you've run into. Do you have a "slider" type gain control to the left of your defroster panel? If so, you have the sound package. The factory amps are in the dash, and can be bypassed there, but for the sake of not hacking anything up (those are pretty rare setups) I would recommend running a new wire to each speaker from the headunit.
Now when you refer to the subs, are you talking about the ones in the sail panels, the 4" factory ones? Or do you have an aftermarket set? If it's the ones in the sail panels, you will need to series the rear speakers, and then connect them to the head unit. If you don't you will present a 2ohm load, and the deck will "clip" or cut out intermittently. Post back with what you have, and we can go from there.
