Sub box ideas?

First off I searched the threads but didn't find anything usefull so NOW I'm posting a new thread. I've got two 8" subs (I listen to some fast heavy rock) coming in today and I need to make a box for them. I've already pulled out the useless rear seats and thats where I plan on putting these guys. I've seen some rear seat deletes that I can make and just cut a hole in them but I'm actually hoping to have the speakers angled a little instead of just pointing straight up so it looks a little more clean/natural. If anyone has any pictures or ideas on what might look good please post! Thanks!!

Re: Sub box ideas?

it would sound better in the well... why do you want them where the back seats go? 8's dont take much air just put them in the well..

Re: Sub box ideas?

I personally just hate seeing the entire well filled with a speaker box. Also since I've already decided to keep the rear seats out, I wanted to put a nice box and subs in to kinda make it look natural back there instead of just making it look like I ripped out the seats =P

Just a thought, you could get a pair of universal speaker enclosures for the size you want. Then build a fascia to hide the fact that there are two boxes. You might even use the space in between for storage, or for an amp.

Not to mention it helps to get them as far away from you as possible. Bouncing the sound off the hatch in these cars makes a huge difference.

Re: Sub box ideas?

Yeah I suppose I was thinking more about the looks and not thinking about how much better its going to sound in the well.. And I'm not a woodworking master so I'm going to go with Al Hasse's idea of buying two sealed enclosures and making a fascia over the two to dress them up.
Thanks a lot guys for your help!

Can you cut cardboard with scissors? You can make a template out of cardboard very easily, nice and tight fitting on the curves and all, then once you're happy with it, trace it out on your wood, and cut it out. (ancient chinese speaker box secret)

Re: Sub box ideas?

In my Fiero I had 10's in the center console and 8's in the doors with fiberglass encolsures and its pretty easy to build a fiberglass box with a garbage bag full of packing peanuts and fleace. Fill the bag with exacly how much cubic feet the speakers need either individual or together and then set the fleece to flow smooth and it will be close enough you won't rreally notice any difference. Also you best friend is going to be Polyfill because if you don't have the cubit feet you need then add 1lb of polyfill for every cubic foot you need and it will make your speakers sound a little better and make subs sound incredible.
