Re: How hard to install universal electric antenna?

As for it wont work

You may have to fab up a simple bracket but no biggie!!
Installed the universals in a few and most of the wires are
color coded the same also.
Even ordered one from GM Parts Direct for our cars and it
was universal and had to fab up a short bracket.
1" plumbers strap works great for making bracket!

Pull the fender liner and go for it

Re: How hard to install universal electric antenna?

well when I attempted to install one in my car I found the motor interfered with the reinforcement under the the fender I bought mine at Checker.

I went to the dealer and they wanted 120 bucks for one I looked at it and the shaft was considerably longer

the car in question was an 89 RS

Re: How hard to install universal electric antenna?

Like said, have installed 4 or 5 in our third gens and they
were all universals, Checkers, Autozone, ect, and one from
GM. The one from GM even had the correct Part# and had
to fab up a bracket.(Universal).

Had to turn ant housing a little. Thats why bracket change
if remember rite. F Body braces from 82-90 or 92 pretty
sure all the same.

One hours work after tire and shield removal and you don't have to be a fabricator to do it.
Splicing the wires took longer than making the bracket.
Clean and oil the ant every so often, common problem.

Just my limited experience with them
