Well, the system I have now (2 12" MTX Jackhammers at 250w RMS apiece & 1000w Profile Amp) sounds REALLY good, but I purchased an 85' Silverado and want to put a system in there. Ive decided I want to put the MTX's & amp in the truck, and upgrade the car.
I came to the conclusion I want to get 2 Rockford Fosgate 500w RMS 12" Subs, but I need help choosing an amp to pair up with these. Any help or ideas guys? I know the amp needs to be around 1200-1800w, but I want your help choosing one.
I would probably say if you want a good one, do kenwood 1500 max watt. amp, or like a middle range Alpine, don't do the high end PDX alpine amps way to much for what you need. But I myself would do alpine, that is what I have an they are awesome. And have it installed prof. will save you a lot of trouble, and the chance of having them blow or burn out, go to like bestbuy or something and ask one of the installers what they would recommend. Way worth it I promise.
y would you not use the same 1000 watt amp you have? the subs are rated at 500rms each.. y would you wanna go higher?
Go buy a Class D 1000 watt amp and your good to go
Because thats 1000w Max, thats not what I'm delivering to the subs in RMS with that amp. For now I am using that amp, but I want something that is going to give me the 500w RMS to each sub like they need. My guess is I'm giving each sub about 350w RMS with my Profile.
Get the old school fosgate amp, i got a 800 watt rockford and a 400 rockford amp wired together in my gmc jimmy powering 4 jl"s...so hands down for a amp i say rockford but the old school cause its heard that the old school rockfords put out more power than they are rated
go to caraudio.com and do research ...amp wise which one you should get? depends on how much you willing to spend ..all you need is 1000 rms mono amp at your ohm rating ...but beware alot of cheaper amps that say 1000rms are either overrated or inefficient...meaning they dont do rated rms or get super hot (power hogs) now your better amp which you will pay more for (not that ebay crap) are very efficient run very cool to the touch and are usually underrated of there rms rating ...
