I'm gonna be putting my amps where the back of the rear seat used to be. I'm gonna drill 4 holes to hold a board there and then mount my amps on there. BUT... is it ok to drill here? if it isnt would i still be able to mount my amps here? thanks guys and ive got one hell of a system cooking up so stay tuned

If you are referring to the vertical wall where the rear seat backs used to be...That depends. The gas tank is mounted back there, so drill SHALLOW & get underneath & look where your holes are gonna be first.

The gas might be far enough back to be of no concern. Not positive. Been too long since I've been under the car, nor have I ever thought about it so never paid attention to that.

Your amp rack will take up your two seats so only 2 seater and big empty space with amps. should be interesting.

Build an amp rack to go behind the rear seat and fit under the roller shade.

Here is my old amp rack..it's 40" long, 14" deep and 5.5" high. The roller shade works great and hides everything.

It all depends on how serious you are about drilling straight into the vertical wall. I remember reading somewhere about someone that dropped the gas tank on his show car 2" to create enough clearance to mount amps and speakers, but the car wasn't something you would want to drive and park in the street; unless you have one of those car alarms like the Batmobile had in Batman I and II.


Anyway, your best bet is to create a rack for the hatch area behind the seats where the T-Tops are supposed to go. The roller shade will help a lot, but a smart thief that sees aftermarket speakers in the kick panel area will be smart enough to realize there's an amp or two driving them.
