you can fit one of those flip out screens/head units in the radio spot. Its tight but it does work. Or you can always do some custom fab work and cut up your dash.
o ok thanks guys i just wanted to see what it would like like i know it would have to be a custom install i just wasnt sure on how mmuch you have to murder the dash to get that thing in there
There was a recent post of someone who used a Lilliput screen in place of where the radio went, nice job... though I've not head stellar reviews about Lilliput...
I used a Xenarc 8.4 inch Touchscreen... They got much better reviews & have many models http://xenarc.com/ I have a car PC with Win XP... Mine is a wee bit custom
hahahahaahahah wow talk about goin all out not quite my style but for those of you whos it is i bet thats top knotch

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
not a lot cutting required, just trim a little bit above and below the stereo, and bought some "L" shaped angle brackets from home depot and mounted to the console factory holes.
to nknight: nice work bro ..... to camaroz2892 yea man i definitly have to see pics of that in dash, was it basically the same thing as what nknight said just a little shaving above and below the stereo or something else ???

Car PC? That's kinda great but I'm not going too far as that. It'll be more comfortable for me to use my lappy than that. Anyways, that's a cool integration for a 3rd Gen
have had an eclipse 5495 and a avn1. much nicer then flip out units. i will be picking a new double din pioneer up as soon as i can track down a 6 disc for a reasonable price. the nav units aren't worth it and seem to be the norm hense the typical vehicles that usually require double din. factory can be used with very minimal work but i did a complete new console so pics won't help you.
I just bought a xo vision one. Before i bought it from my friend i did a test fit and all you have to do is take out the black piece that holds the radio in and it fits perfect. I'll put some pics up when i get it in there which should be some time this week or next week. The only thing i'll have to fab is the radio trim so i'm just gonna buy one from the junkyard or ebay.
I have a flip out Kenwood Excelon in mine. It flips out and covers the heater controls. The only time it is really an issue is during the winter when I need to adjust them. I would post pics but it is not installed because me and my older brother are gutting the car to rebuild motor and tranny and bodywork/paint.
Took me long enough to get the picture but here they are. The only problem is my AC controller has the top part of the writing cut off. It still works just fine and all i need to do is build a more custom faceplate then the one i have made already. But for now i think it looks pretty damn good. And for anyone wondering its a Pioneer Double-Din in dash DVD/CD player. Also hooks right up to my ipod. Love it.
EDIT: I just realized now the faceplate looks a little brown but i assure you it is black in real life. I dont understand why its brownish there.

i like the way the window switches are pulled out and just sitting there as wires without any switch. nice retro touch. lol
it does not look brown on my screen. nice job.

Finally someone has done it and posted pics!
this is something I've been wanting to do, and been thinking of how to do it.
Did you use your old radio bezel, and cut it to make it fit the 2 din head unit? Or did you make a whole new one?
Any pics as you went?
great job, looking forward to learning more on what you did.
I used the old faceplate and cut it out. I then sanded the edges out so it looked nice.
To actually mount the head unit in there i made a custom mounting bracket and just bolted it in. No one without atleast 5 or 10 minutes of time and the correct tools can stand a chance of stealing it which is a nice thought knowing my 400 dollar headunit wont one day disappear.
Ill take my headunit out once it gets a little warmer and take some pictures of how its installed. Should of taken some while actually making it but it completely slipped my mind.
i'm in the prosess of doin it now its alot of work i'm putting mine where the fuel gauge use to be i have auto meter gauges on the pillar and where the radio use to be it looks really good ill put up some pics as soon as the fiber glass is done
I chose this unit because of the great reviews it received for it's navigation functions. It also has all of the main features that I were looking for in a single unit that many others don't offer.
man finally some pics hahaha but thats a dam good job man keep up the good work im actually gunna be setback from putting my tv becuase im in the process of doin a motor swap which is going to set me back a lil but good job

Hey man that looks great. I have been wanting to do a double din GPS/touch screen set up for my car. They look way better than the flip outs in my opinion.
How much did you have to trim off the radio pod all together. Any more pics of what you had to do?
I just put one in my car about 5 days ago sorry no pics yet... I love it its a 7 inch flip out their is plenty of room behind the thing unlike some other cars ive installed dvd and cd players in
the only problem i have with it is it covers up the heater controls and thats pretty annoying .... im planing on switching the DVD player to the top part but am LAZY at this point and im just going to deall with it for a while
Are we talking TV, or a DVD player or screen? Wonder if there is an actual digital TV for a car?
SIRIUS makes one - I've got it in my Jeep GCL... (came as a factory option) Really blows right now, only 3 channels and they are all for children + it's like $13 a month... I would think that there would be a good market for more channels - maybe if they pulled their head out of their a$$ and added some it could help them avoid a take over or bankruptcy...

I ordered a spare radio bezel off internet and modified slightly to fit Avic D3 DVD/Nav unit, antenna underneath dash on metal brace, works great, no a/c duct work, A/C controls in stock location with minimum of metal brace removed for radio fit. Black foam weatherstrip to fill gaps on sides.
I didn't cut side brackets, so factory radio will still fit with its original bezel.

I'm too lazy to look for it - but kandied's car had one at one point - i dont know if he changed it or not. Search tgo or check out his car domain - i saw pics of the 2 din eclipse unit in his car at one point. i think he even managed to keep the hvac somehow.
