FINALLY upgrading from stock! Opinions?

I'm finally upgrading from a factory CD player and speakers to something with a little more bass and overall range/loudness with no distortion.

I went to Crutchfield and started off by buying a GM antenna/aftermarket adapter, a GM 89+ radio/harness adapter, and speaker connector adapters for the front 4x6s and rear 6x9s. My goal was to leave all wiring and factory connectors totally intact so I could easily go back to stock speakers and CD player again.

I then decided to buy the Pioneer DEH-P77DH 1.5DIN head unit. It's the best 1.5DIN unit I could find.

Now based on that head unit I chose my speakers. I decided on Pioneer TS-G4642R 4x6s and Pioneer TS-A6962R 6x9s which Crutchfield assured would fit and work in my exact car with that head unit. To top it all off, I also decided to order the matching Pioneer CDX-P1280 12-disc CD changer which I will mount in the rear on that ledge in front of the spare tire cover. I wanted all the same brand for compatibility/sound reasons. I scoured the internet for the best price on each part I ordered.

Now here is the kicker, my home was broken into 2 weeks ago and the head unit stolen the very day after it arrived in the mail!!!!!!!! Before I order another, I thought I would post all of this just to get opinions on the head unit and if there was possibly another that would be better for what I have going on.

I also plan on buying and having a DEI Viper 5901 professionally installed.

Thanks! Alex

Re: FINALLY upgrading from stock! Opinions?

K, well I went ahead this morning and ordered another Pioneer DEH-P77DH to replace the stolen one, friggin sucks but I can't do anything about it.

I'll be installing everything in about 2 weeks. I'm going to be removing the seats, carpet, and headliner in about 2 months and that's when I'll have the alarm system with remote start installed.

I can't wait to hear how clear the new system is going to sound. I'm going to have to remaster my entire music library in lossless now instead of 192kps mp3, lol.

Re: FINALLY upgrading from stock! Opinions?

Personally I think the best deck on the market right now for the money is the Sony CDXGT730UI. Its specifications and features are better than most, it has a USB port on the front of the deck (plays and charges your ipod) and you can get it shipped for $145 thru Amazon which is a screaming deal for a deck of this calibre. I just pulled a Pioneer CD player out of my IROC and replaced it with one of these and what a difference!
Its not a DIN 1.5 though and if you are set on that size then this deck isnt for you.

LOL!! Believe it or not that is a warning that your faceplate is still attached! If you remove the faceplate before turning off the car it wont do that. Im not sure how to turn that feature off....maybe try settings.

With the deck off, press the "F" button for a couple seconds til the menu pops up. Press "F" again until you get to "ALARM: ON" and toggle it to off.

Mine was starting to annoy me last year, and I wasn't looking forward to it again this year.
