What did you spend on your stereo from start to finish?

I know we've seen threads where people are looking for a budget system and some that have spent quite a bit of $$ on their stereo.

I thought it would be fun to see what people are spending on the systems for their f-body's and why (if you dumped tons into it).

I'll start:

Kenwood CD player w/usb support (refurbished), $107 shipped

two kicker amps (one new, one refurbished) KX 400.2 and ZX200.4 $260 shipped

two Kicker Comp 10" subwoofers (new) $129 shipped

Pair of kicker 6.5" midbasses, 4" midranges, and tweeters (all new NOS) $100 shipped

Misc stuff for wire, installation and materials to build box $300

Labor - Free

Grand total of roughly $896 spent give or take $100

Re: What did you spend on your stereo from start to finish?

PheonixGold 1000 watt mono amp - $300
PheonixGold 500 watt 2 channel amp - $150
PheonixGold 200 watt 2-way 6x9's - $30 per speaker (4 of them)
PheonixGold 600 watt 12" Subwoofers - $70 each (2 of them)
Monster audio wires - $50
Head unit - my Zune80 (new it was $220)
Labor - Done myself so $0
Custom Subwoofer box - $20 in 3/4 MDF

Total: $780 w/o Zune

My system is twice too powerful for my tastes, but too much is better than not enough right? The only thing I would change about it is to get some tweeters for better imaging.

Re: What did you spend on your stereo from start to finish?

While I haven't done any work on the TA yet, here's whats in the GTP

$350 - Pioneer Premier 880 deck
$100 - usb add on for deck
$10 - 2nd aux add-on for deck
$75 - HUmount custom head unit mount. well, well worth the money
$200 - ample audio ax1100 sub amp (used on ebay)
$35 - ample audio a210x mid amp (same)
free - ample audio a210x tweeter amp (same, but long story)
$40 - audax coax speakers (front)
$150 - ascendent audio 12" sub (new, discontinued)
$100 - prefab box (I was lazy)
$100 - misc wiring, harnesses, fuses, etc

Total - $1160. This took a LONG time to get together (3-4 years and 2 cars later) and a lot of bargain hunting.

Re: What did you spend on your stereo from start to finish?

I spent minus $50, as in I got paid $50 for the system in my 87 RS
Came with an aftermarket stereo that was brand new, so I pulled it out and sold it for $50
Put the stock deck from my 01 Silverado in it's place. Front and rear Boston Acoustic speakers that were in another thirdgen that I bought for parts.

Couldn't even begin to figure out the set up in the 88 IROC. Parts have been with me for years and in several different cars lol.

Re: What did you spend on your stereo from start to finish?

Mine was basically free as there are 3 of us with F-bodies and we are all good friends. So we always hand me down stuff if we either upgrade or get tired of something and want a change. I got my front speakers, rear speakers and deck for $50. This stuff isnt junk in anyway speakers and deck are pioneer and the subs I just got are JBL's. I also have 2 mtx amps. Not the greatest but they work and I listen to death metal so its all i need. In all I think Ive spent maybe $200 on everything. Its just pure luck this way but its a great set up for sure for the price
