bose speaker configuration help - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

i have an 87 iroc that came with the bose system from the factory, the kick panel speakers are working but the rears are toast... so i ordered a set of 4" kenwoods today to replace them. i am also going with a kenwood head unit since the factory one is long gone. my question is this: since there are 6 speakers in the car (2 in the dash, 2 in the kick panels, and 2 in the back) and only enough wires coming out of the head unit for 4 speakers... should i hook the dash and kick speakers together? and leave the rears by themselves?? or should i hook up the rears and kick together since they have amps, and leave the dash speakers by themselves?? any thoughts on the subject would be greatly appreciated. i am a definate newbie when it comes to car stereos.

I would run the dash/kicks together, that way you can adjust the front/rear fading to your liking. A 4" kick speaker is pretty small, otherwise I would say run the kicks only (and no dash speakers).

the 4" speakers are in the very back hatch area.. i am not sure what the kicks are. possibly 4". i guess i could run the dash and kicks together and the rears alone.. maybe someday i will get speakers for the sail panels and i could run them with the hatch speakers. will it hurt anything to run 2 sets of speakers off of wires that were meant to only run 1 set??
