| Re: Mold on subbox and no wetness?? MDF is very absorbent; I found my 3/4" box was closer to 1 1/2" when I had a leak in my hatch area. It may not be very noticeable, but you can't have water back there without some kind of leak. Try putting a little bit of baby powder or flour on the side plastics and give the car a good washing. You should be able to find trickle tracks, no matter how small. I found that there's a little square section towards the back of the hatch near the sides that can have issues with sealing.
As for the box, you may be able to let it dry a bit more and hit it with a couple of layer of fiberglass to add some structure. However, if its wet, it will cause mold, possibly even inside the box.
