Original radio installation help

I just bought one of the original radios that go into an 89 IROC. I'm looking to restore the interior to stock. I bought my IROC and it had an aftermarket system in it.
When I took my IROC in to get the original radio remounted, the mechanic informed me it would need replacement pigtails which was no problem finding. But he also said the original radio should of came with a mounting bracket that went behind and around the radio to fit correctly.
Is this true? If so where can I purchase one?

Re: Original radio installation help

I made mine from some hobby aluminum 1/2" angle. Took all of 15 mins. I scoured the junk yards for two days and never found one. Works just as good and you never see it anyways.

Re: Original radio installation help

that is part of the lower console I think. If that is the case just find a cheap console and snatch it off of it.

Re: Original radio installation help

Not part of the console. It mounts with two small angle brackets. To the radio and to the console. As mentioned abovem, you should be able to fab one pdq.
