Changing factory head unit signal for amp - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

I've seen these around, but of course, when I AM LOOKING FOR THE STUPID THING it is no where to be found.

It takes the output from a factory head unit/player and steps it down to pre-amp level so it can go through a good component amp and THEN to the speakers, much better sound for not a ton of money.

Any ideas, names or products, please post or PM

What kind of car do you have? Metra has kits specific to ur vehicle that allow you to hook up an amp.I'd also suggest gettin a line driver to push the voltage of the factory head unit since it will probably be too low.Look up the metra website www.metraonline.com/

and look for line drivers on ebay.It dont have to b expensive,just make sure u get an adjustable one if u decide to get one.

Sounds like you're looking for a line level converter. Should be available just about anywhere these days (stereo shops, best buy, walmart, etc).
