power antenna stuck

hey guys, my power antenna is stuck in the up position, and i know the motor works, just the little plastic cord inside is broken, is there any way with out cutting it to get it out of the fender?? i tried once and i get the motor off the bracket but because its stuck in the up position i can't get it out. i don't listen to the radio in the car and even just getting it in the down position would be good, i have tried forcing it in but not so much that it would bend it. any tips?

thx

THere is a repair kit you can get to fix this, I was given the location to buy it because I still need to, runs about $45.00 or so for the kit and takes 2 hours or so to do the repair.

Re: power antenna stuck

My antenna is stuck up now too but the motor isn't running so I think I need a whole unit. In the meantime for you, I'd disconnect the harness from the antenna or pull the fuse after driving if the antenna motor is running endlessly so it doesn't drain the battery overnight (I've been there too)

*Update*

I tried like hell to remove the entire antenna assembly with the mast up but couldn't do it. I wound up cutting the mast and pulling the unit out. Now the search for a used unit or good fitting universal replacement because I see new originals for $200 and that's insane.
