A few days back my dad and i pulled the stock radio out and replaced it with a new headunit with a HUmount kit. Just got a few pictures today thought id post what it looks like!

We also ran the ipod cord through to the center console so its not in the way of anything and out of site.
Now i am wanting to put subs in, but neither me or my dad know anything about installing subs or an amp. A couple questions, do you have to build your own box to fit or is there somewhere out there you can buy one? Would fiberglass or wood sound better? Like i said earlier neither me or my dad know anything about subs and would like opinions on some subs/amps that sound good for not all that much money. I dont mind spending a few bucks but im not looking for competition grade equipment. Keep in mind i still have the stock speakers in the car, not sure whether or not that will make a difference.
I get plenty of deep sound, without a big heavy box. Unless you want to rattle the windows of all the houses in the 'hood, a cheap amp/sub combo from like Pep Boys can do wonders. My entire setup including this little amp and one 10in sub and materials for the shelf I built might add up to $200. Being young, you may want more, but I throw it out there for your consideration.
JUST PLEASE DON"T run the large + wire for the amp through the door opening - the opening/closing of the door wears on the wire until it shorts - I've bought several parts cars that had this, and the resulting fire is why they were parts cars.
Thanks for the response. I'm not looking to shake the entire neighborhood, just my car.I ordered 2 Rockford Fosgate P1 10's. and im thinking about getting this amp http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1218063832403
As for a box im looking at a Q-Logic box since it seems to be the only one around aside from building one that fits flush with the top of the well. Anyone know of any other pre-built boxes that fit flush?
If you wanted to spend the money, you could buy a RF p300-1 amp, itll run your subs easy, and then if you decide to upgrade to 12s or P2s or whatever, that amp will run them. Or the P500-1 or P1000-1 amps also. They will run any RF subs you get and most likely any subs for that matter.
Do you mean whether or not to have it ported or sealed? or placement? With my P1 12s i was told sealed sounded better, but idk about yours. But placement wise, i have been meaning to get a box built for the back well, its supposed to sound better because itll bounce off your back glass and give it better sound. And im getting mine custom built for only $100 from a local audio store, im sure you could get the same price where you are at. Or you could build the box yourself, if thats your plan heres the link to the dimensions forum http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/ca...l-sub-box.html (Dimensions for well sub box) and the guys building mine are going to use 1/2 MDF. A box in the well looks alot better than this
I LOVE you. Your Humount, those are the yelllow lights correct? Not red... I'm wondering because i want to it to match the stock dash lights at night. Looks sick!
The install looks great. You should just go ahead and make a sub box. Follow the intructions on the sticky (Dimensions for well sub box) on the top of the Audio Forum. It explains everything on making a sub box. Those are the directions I used to make my box and it fits in the well perfectly. Wiring the amp and subs is very easy. Your headunit was harder to wire than the subs and amp. Normally an amp will have the + and - for the subs (each one). The + and - to power the actual amp and a 12v+ input to turn on the amp. And lastly RCA/Component inputs. That amp should do fine and it'll come with instructions aswell. Let us know if you have any more questions. But if you still have your factory 20y/o speakers, you might want to replace those instead, that will make a big difference...
Mods so far: MSD Cap and rotor, MSD ignition coil, Accel 8.8mm ignition wires, Hooker Super Comp Shortie Headers, Flowmaster 3in catback, underdrive crank pulley, custom cold air intake, NOS wet 125 shot, air foil and a lead foot! no E/T's yet. ...TURBO COMING SOON...Other mods include keyless entry and remote start, and Sequential Turn Signals.
Ya, amps are pretty straight forward when installing. Just don't run your power and rca's on the same side of the car. SUPPOSEDLY it makes static interference.. Dunno if its true but i ran mine separate just in case..

Wow... looks neat and matched. and the Single DIN plate with Camaro Z28 written on it pulls it all together quite nicely. Do it yourself or did you buy that somewhere?
Thanks for all the responses! The LED is actually red but in that picture it looks kind of yellow.Ill keep the tip about separating the wires in mind when hooking my amp up. I might check around town to see if anywhere can build a custom box for me. Any suggestions on speakers? I have been looking around on crutchfield and the responses there are mixed. And we bought the kit from a company in Canada but hooked it all up ourselves.
