Antenna mount location?

This may be an easy one for some, but I just put a new stereo in my 84 z28, and noticed that I can barely pick up like one station...anyway, I got to searching for the antenna, and there's not one! The mount in the passenger fender doesn't exist...the wiring mast in just loosely laying inside of the fender well.

Is it maybe possible that the fender came off of a later model 3rd gen, i'm not really familiar with the stereo options of these years.

Also, if this is the case, has anyone ever drilled a hole, and mounted an antenna assembly, because I have another mount and antenna?

Thanks,
Michael

Re: Antenna mount location?

I relocated mine. If you look at my pics you can see its mounted on the roof between the t-tops and the rear hatch.

Re: Antenna mount location?

not sure what your asking...the antenna is usually on the passenger side and its kinda just there.... i think it can be found by taking the plastic under the dash on the passenger side..

Re: Antenna mount location?

Yes, you are right, but what I mean is that the actual antenna and mount are non-existant...there's not a hole or anything where it should be in the fender.

I just didn't know if the later model 3rd gens were like this and maybe my passenger fender came off of one.

It sounds like someone shaved it. That is what I did with mine. Just welded up the hole and put mud over it.

Re: Antenna mount location?

I'd just get one of the powered hide away antennas you can get on ebay. That's what I had in my Nova. They work good and keep a clean look.

Re: Antenna mount location?

Someone shaved it, where ya weld n body over the hole to make it go away.
Get a Pioneer supertuner head unit, never need one again.

I shaved mine like many, though I still have the factory antenna hole in my left rear for a CB that I never shaved. But it came with a fancy removable plug in it.
