Is hifonics any good?

I was looking at different companies to choose from and I noticed that hifonics had some pretty powerful speakers which surprised me how powerful they were. And then I checked out how much they cost and it surprised me too! They're all really cheap! For example I was looking at some 6x9 speakers and hifonics has some that are called ZXI693. They have 110 rms and 500 max and cost around $50? Seems too good to be true...

Re: Is hifonics any good?

Yes, I have been using them for almost 2 decades, very good stuff. Of all the stuff I ever bought that old GenX 6.2C compo set still sounds the best. Where can you get them that cheap? Hifonics used to be quite expensive here (Netherlands), i remember paying a couple thou for a Zeus amp back many years.

Re: Is hifonics any good?

I wasn't sure where to buy them so I just went to google shopping and they all came out pretty cheap. Here is exactly the link and the prices range from $45 to $70. Lol any other company would be a steal at $100 so I mean i thought there was something off about it

Re: Is hifonics any good?

Well, simply compare a good composet to a coaxial w/ crossover filtering and you'll never want back. I just checked and the modern version of the GenX6.2 is called Maximus6.2C and they are 650 euros here, about 800$. There are a lot of other cheaper alternatives though.

Re: Is hifonics any good?

Where did you find those? The only site that I could get much info on hifonics was
http://www.hifonicsusa.com/index.html
And I can't find them there. Plus what's the difference between compo and coaxial?

Re: Is hifonics any good?

Maybe they're not for sale over there?

Component set is usually a 2 way set, a mid range speaker and a tweeter with a passive crossover to split the incoming signal to the 2 speakers. A coaxial has no such thing.

High end coaxials DO have crossovers,Look for example at Infinity kappas coax and Focal coax.
