Dual 10's in the well

Is it possible to fit 2 10's in the well with it being level with the ledges? I would love to do this but not sure how can get enough room for both of them. I don't want to fiberglass but if i have to i have to. If anybody has pics that would best and if you have dimensions that's even better!

Re: Dual 10's in the well

I just asked pretty much the same question. They'll fit physically but I don't think there is enough airspace for two. Here's the link: http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/ca...-make-sub.html (Any One Make A Sub Box Like This?)

Re: Dual 10's in the well

okay thanks. i thought you were considering going the cheap way out and just putting piece of MDF across the ledges and bore two 10 inch holes and call it a day. but i might just do what you are doing and install a single 12. Or else i was debating to build the box to have a 3 or 4 inch rise over top of the ledges (just below the locked storage area.)

Re: Dual 10's in the well

I've pretty much decided what I'm doing. Something similar to what camaronewbie did but I'm going to make it so the top of the box is level with the upper floor (just below the storage box like you're thinking). Don't know if I'm going to go fully enclosed or not. Since 70's and 80's rock isn't that full of bass to begin with. I'm gonna use a kicker cvr12 12" sub and maybe an 8" as well, if I have enough space. The top of the box is going to be covered with light weight (thin) carpet or like headliner fabric to blend in with my red interior. I want it to look like there's nothing there. Gonna put my kicker amp in the storage compartment, should be enough room for heat dissipation.
Good luck
Alex

Re: Dual 10's in the well

open air subs are another good alternative as well.

The first picture in this thread shows my old setup. It's 2 JL 10W6 subs in the well. Although they are slanted toward the front, the box doesn't extend to the deep part of the well. It's possible to use all of the well space and have the top panel sit flush with the floor of the cargo area.

There is enough air for most 10's to be mounted on a flat board and have that "flush" look. Free air subs are a great option as well. I've run 2 12's on a baffle board flush with the rear. Worked fine.

Re: Dual 10's in the well

If you can get creative with fiberglass, I was able to get about 1 cu ft of space out of the lower (deep) section of the well for my single 12". Had some pretty decent results and it was pretty much out of site when I had my t-top bag in place.

As for free air subs, our cars are not properly set up for a free-air setup (front of cone being separate from the rear of the cone with lots of air space on both sides) and the plates will not get the most out of your subs. A few of us have been there before, you'll be MUCH happier with a full box.
