Capacitors In Series With My Speakers - Third Generation F-Body Message Boards

Hi guys,
I just took the 6x9 infinity speakers out of my firebird (out of action for a while) to put in my camaro and noticed some electrolytic capacitors wired in series (on the positive end) on each speaker. The PO had subs and an amp of some kind, found a poorly routed power wire when I took the interior out. So what would the caps be for and should I remove them? The speakers sounded pretty good in the bird with a factory radio (what I'm using in the maro).

Basically a bass blocker. Keeps the low frequencies from playing through those speakers, since the P.O. had subs, it makes sense to block what the subs play from the other speakers. I'm not up though on what value cap is used for what frequencies.
