Hey all,
I recently installed my battery in the trunk. I turned the car on and everything worked fine, but my radio and the ability to charge itself. So i spoke to the Summit Tech, and i completly forgot to do more grounds such as block-starter-frame. But would that explain why now my radio didnt turn on as well?
Re: Radio not turning on after trunk battery install
you need the neg battery cable straight to the engine, then a smaller ground strap from the engine to the body or from the battery to the body. all your other accessories are likely grounding through the shifter cable (automatic trans) or something else
Re: Radio not turning on after trunk battery install
The radio has two power wires both must have power for the radio to work: YELLOW will be wired direct to a 12 volt source (has power regardless if the car is on or not), could be wired to the fuse box or direct to battery which may be the case for you and not transfered back when the battery moved, it the keeps clock and preset functions stored and RED which is switched 12 volt, hot only when key switch is on should be wired to fuse box accordingly.
Option two (not as desirable) would be tie the two wires together and hook them to a switched source power will work when key switch is on, presets and clock will not be stored and reset everytime powered off. Or you could hook both to battery (least desirable) and keep presets clock but radio will work all the time key on or off, possible to forget and leave radio on and run battery down
Re: Radio not turning on after trunk battery install
Well the wierd thing is joe, that i never even touched the radio to begin with when this project, it has to be a short somewhere..or im not grounding correctly..or maybe forgot to attach something, but damn that was confusing when i started the car haha
