Re: best 6x9 for the $$$

I'd use these:

http://www.crutchfield.com/ISEO-rgbt...TS-A6991R.html

They really shine, they got a great amount of bass and the highs are loud and clear (it has 4 tweeters)...I switched to pioneer mids because I didnt want highs on both the back and front.....but I loved em, the magnet is huuuuge for a 6x9.
For the price you cant go wrong with those.

P.s I'll sell em to you cheap. lol

I also tried bostons...(ex95) they give a lot of bass....they almost feel like you have small subs hitting back there.....

My dad has kappas in his car and their bass is less booomy..more accurate, the highs are loud and clear.

havent tried polks 6x9 but the polks Ive tried (6.5,5.25) sound great, good balanced sound.

All good brands you are looking at.I think for the price the Pio's are the best bang for your buck

If you want to take it a step further go with the focal polyglass'es for like $260.

I second the use of the pioneers. I listened to a lot of speakers and the pioneers are what I liked best.

Hows 60 shipped?

Theyre pretty heavy so I consider that a good price.

P.s the lowest price I found for the same model is 85

I don't know about "best", but I can highly reccommend the Infinity Kappa 6x9s. I've had a few sets in multiple vehicles and totally abused the Kappa 6x9s in my 1989 Formula and they always took the punishment without complaint. They may not have the bass wallop of some other speakers, but are clean and crisp.

Re: best 6x9 for the $$$

IMO, the Pioneers aren't going to sound anything like the other three. But I've only listened to the higher end models. You're not going to notice the difference if you don't have a decent head unit and/or amplifier though. Check out an audio store and listen to them in person, some speakers appeal more to one than they might to someone else. And they might sound different with a different head unit and amp, but at least you can tell how they compare and what they're capable of. The best value for the money as far as I'm concerned is spending the $300 or so for a decent pair.

Here is a thread on some speakers that I'm selling: http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/in...-speakers.html (6 x 9 Speakers)

im a fan of the kappa, and refrence infinity line, but i also do like the polk momo line too.... if you want cheap speakers buy the walmart roadmaster speakers... im not trying to be a smartass, they actually sound very good amplified. u should see the motor on those things, its bigger than the pioneer pictured

Re: best 6x9 for the $$$

I like infinity's for their highs and mids,I bought a set of references for my dash (I can turn off the HU's internal amp, so whenever I want I can only have the comps up front with the sub,or add some dash and sail panels speakers to make some more noise =]

Now I normally dont hate on brands, but I PERSONALLY, saw 1ST hand my friend blowing 2 sets of roadmasters from walmart in 1 WEEK.I gave him a pair of sony's and theyre still bumpin.(and sonys are already bad)

Of course I have no way to prove this...the paperweights are long gone.

I tried EACH one of those brands,(can take pics of all my speakers if requested =])and while polk ,infinity and boston are "higher end" and they sound VERYY NICE.....The Pioneers have the best quality/price ratio in my opinion, thats why most of my speakers are pioneers,Except for my orion sub. and JL mids up front.

i plan on putting my 200watt amp back to use so thats why i was considering the higher-end speakers. i want it to hit good too. looks like the kappa is the most popular.

Cheap speakers that sound great are kenwoods, The ones I have are 650w max and I have a 630 amp hooked to both of them and they are loud! and sound great too...http://www.crutchfield.com/p_113KFC6...2ie.html?tp=91

for a hundred bucks you cant beat that. If you want to spend more I would go with Boston.

I have the 6X9s running of my headunit which has like 40 watt RMS. They sound good, way better then stock not enough bass though but that could just by my lack of a solid amp. I'm upgrading to the Inifinty Kappa 6.5 components and a Alpine 4 channels 100 watt RMS amp over the winter though so that should be quite an improvment.

I installed a set of the Alpines in the stock sail panels, added some Dynamat between them and the metal and am driving them with half of a Digital Designs 400w 4 channel amp and they sound awesome, they hit pretty good and have really good bass up until they distort, enough that it hurts my ears and will rattle loose parts of the car if your outside.

Why 6 x 9?

Get a set of 6.5" components and make a template for them to fit. Much better selection when dealing with a 6.5"...also you'll get better sound from a round speaker than an oval one.

What's your budget? What do you have for the front? Amp?

Re: best 6x9 for the $$$

As The Project just said a round speaker will provide better sound overall. However, I've got a pair of Rockford Fosgate Prime R1693 6x9's and I am quite impressed. The sound is very nice with no distortion at a pretty loud volume (and down low too). Decent bass and very nice highs. Prime series are the lower end Rockford Fosgate stuff so I'm sure the Punch or Power series would be even better. Anyway, I got the for the whopping price of $44 on ebay, definitly worth every penny.

Good advise.....for a good inexpensive comp set go with the PPI 356 about $140 from sonicelectronix.com

Best bang forthe buck speakers around.
