Thanks that is perfect. Good thing I saved that extra MDF when I build my box last year. Can't get to my spare tired without taking out my box so no loss.
it would have the same effect on the amp as yusky03 it is basically in the same place as his but on the backside of the board
Not quite......
His is getting vibration, yes. Yours is getting the same vibrations, plus being hamered by the sound waves inside the box. More pressure & more vibrations.
oh i see, so this will decrease the life of my amp?
yes, itll prob carack the sauder in the coils, and capacitors., and then you have even more vibration since i get the impression you only have a baffle, not a real box
I'd be less concerned about vibration and more about ventilation. Amps die more often from overheating than they do from vibration. Unless the components were VERY badly soldered, they will withstand plenty of vibration. Mounting the amp under an enclosure does not allow enough airspace to cool the heatsink well
I just mount mine in the very front of the trunk compartment leveled away from the subs, my setup is just like yours, only i have my amp up toward the back seat more mounted, and then i just have the stock pull down cover over my entire trunk area, still has plenty to breathe.
i put mine on the hump =P most people say not to do it...but i just used 1/4 inch screws and its still got lots of clearance

Both of you.....How LONG are the screws you used? Did you see the pic I've posted? You have less that 1" from the floor to the gas tank.
its really not a problem mounting them on the hump, the screws never go trough the sheet metal, they barely even penetrate the hard cardbord backing of the carpet
I mounted mine in the spare tire well. I just got a board and cut it to the shape of the well so it fit snugg and then went to ACE hardware and got some aluminum strips and bent them in a vice to the shapes I needed. I then just mounted everything to the board and car. Does not rattle, shake, or move in anyway. The amp run's nice and cool back there.
The way I have my amp in place is
In the cargo are there is a board that cover the big space in the back. So I put the amp and cap on the bottom. So when you open the board to look under it the amp in there but when it is close the is nothing other than the sub behind the back seats.
I will put a picture tomorrow so others can see.
Hopefully the picture will explain more
I had mine in the spare tire well also... That is until it filled up with water... haha... Still don't know how it happened, rear hatch seals are good... Weird thing is, besides the amp still working, is it never happened again...
Here is a picture of my set up, i know it is not matching spearker but if does sound well
Also have the cover to cover it up and make the bass sound a little more

I would hide one of em subs so that ppl would b like wth ..that one sub hits pretty hard.....(and u wont have ppl bitchin about how u never use non matching subs)
And I would also make my wiring look better......Zip ties and wire loom should do it.
I am thinking of getting two kicker 12in sub. I know of a place here by where i live that make speaker box. In fact they make the box and sell them to audio place, so in fact you are getting them directly.
Also in the wiring i will remove some wire i dont need and then zip lock everything else
Saritisan, and others considering a setup like this: the amps were not designed to be placed upside down during use. Heat rises and by inverting the amp like that the heat doesn't get to the heatsink of the amp effectively, it rises through the amp components, severly reducing the overall life of the amp. I never recommend an inverted amp to my customers.

The screws dont hit my gas tank. Here are some pictures of mine
Where on earth did you find that cover for your audio system?! Did you fab it yourself? I would VERY much like to get something like that to keep theives eyes outta my back window!

If you are referring to that cloth cover, that is a stock roll-back cover piece.
The rear plastic cover was different, because it has slots in it to hook the cover too. And there was a small round mount for the roller piece to fit into.
It was spring loaded inside, so that 1 end could push in & the whole unit be taken in & out very easily, whebever needed.
I built a box on the upper portion of the trunk so I have room for my T-tops, so I just bolted the thing right to the side of that box. Makes my retractable trunk cover useless, however.
The amount of people screwing amps into the sheet metal is saddening. Velcro people. Velcro. I've had amps sitting on the back of sub boxes for years just using velcro. Putting it flat on a surface velcro is more than enough to keep it from sliding around.
I copied morrow
I have to say that is a better spot then I though once I started moving everything around it just fit perfectly, gives a very clean look. Also I'm not worried some one is going to break my window to get to my amp.
I had in originally held with velcro right in the middle of the hump. Was to worried about it getting over heated but it now works well in the box.

as long as u use small enough screw they wont go trough the sheet metal and just grip the carpet. i mounted mine using 3/4 inch screws and they barely pierce the carpet. amp hold very well.
