Sound system questions?

So I am planning out my dream Camaro build ( a dream I plan to make reality) and am now planning out the interior. I have the body figured out and a good portion of the interior but am getting a bit stuck due to the details I haven't dealt with. So for the interior I plan on stripping out the old interior, painting the car and then putting a 4th gen interior, this order is simply because I think it would be easier to paint without having to worry about the interior to much. When the new 4th gen interior goes in I plan on deleting the back seats and moving the front rails back a few inches back, this is to provide more leg room in the front because I'm 6'5"-6" and my legs are cramped in my firebird with the seat all the way back. It wont have an airbag either way so I'm not worried about causing difficulties in that regard. If I move my seats back 3" than that still leaves me a good deal of space. I was thinking of putting some sort of audio setup back there but I have no familiarity with car audio.

My goals for my stereo/sound system would be:

To have good sound with very clear sound and clarity.

Good volume even with T-tops off, my firebirds sound basically blows away with the wind unless I have it blasting so loud that the speakers sound like ****.

LCD screen of good size, Bluetooth phone connectivity, GPS, etc

I considered subs as I don't really have to worry about loose car parts vibrating as I will replacing all the suspension, brakes, interior, exhaust, drivetrain, and doing a thorough check of everything not being replaced to make sure of good condition. But I don't want to be one of those dudes driving down the street with annoying thumping. I don't know if all subs do that but I don't want to have my car sound to annoy other people.

I would like to try to keep this around 1000-1200.

i like clarion and polk stuff they have a real good sound, some of these are going to require some fab. like the double din hu and if you want to run components in the rear sail you could just make a plate. not really necessary to fill the back seat though, leave that area for a roll bar and NOS

rear sail

as far as sub you can just get a powered 8 bazooka tube that wont be that annoying to others but still fill in the low end

Well I don't plan on doing any racing so a roll cage isn't really necessary and I would do turbos/super if I wanted more power, probably not going to do nos at all

Re: Sound system questions?

You are limited by the stock speaker location and size. Throw any 6x9's in the rear sails, they won't matter as they are filler. Concentrate your money on the front. You'll need custom fabricated 5-6" kicks in either the doors or kick panels, then tweeters in the A-pillars. This will move the sound stage to the front and provide the clarity you want. Due to your size, the doors may be the only option for you to mount a 5-6" round if you want room for your feet. Read more on custom kick panels on this forum and you'll get some ideas, also http://diymobileaudio.com is a good place.

Re: Sound system questions?

supposed to be a joke, guess it tough to get through the computer

if you move the seat back the rear sails will be like headphones, so i was thinking that would be good for the separates. certainly a ton easier than in the door, and he might need that space for his knees

You should really start a new thread for this question. It's considered bad manners to hijack someone's thread.

Why do you want a 15" sub?
