So I was following the other threads about the DoubleD bezels and decided to write them and let them know there were some interest in the Camaro ones here, and if they would be interested in a group buy.

I'm 100% in for one. Just earlier today, Car Toys in Lynnwood WA quoted me $300 extra labor to modify an oem bezel to fit one of their double din touch screens... in ADDITION to the regular $220 install. That's a total of $520 + tax for the LABOR ALONE. Yikes.

yes you are going to send in your original piece and then he's going to work on em all at the same time and send them back to us. the only pictures I've seen of the Camaro unit are the ones in the other thread on this forum this the person said it looked good I haven't seen the pictures of them installed yet

Come on guys, I've seen so many threads on this forum about if it's possible to put a double din. This makes it very easy and will look stock.

We need 6 more people to sign up to get it at this price.

Correct me if I am wrong, but $65.00 is the standard price to modify a bezel you send in.. (at least with birds)

This is for the Camaro, and the standard price for those because they are more difficult is $99 ($85) if you send yours in.

Im totally in but first, how is this going to look? Is the factory appearance going to be kept? In other words, will it look stock but not? I know how to make a double din face plate using the stocker with fiberglass and some resin and spray paint, but it wont match the other trim pieces.

Before I go in to this I need to know if they have a texture method that resembles stock pieces.

Guys. I have a 3d printer and make parts for my side business and hopefully new patent (audio system) not car related.

Well I am going to print a new bezel for a double din. I will keep it simple but see if I can add options for outboard button/switches etc

needless to say within the next 1-2 months I wil have prototypes and gladly support and print for the group here at minimal cost

I dunno man. Maybe this is just a bad angle with some color difference from the camera flash but it doesn't really match in this picture. The other thing that throws it off is the use of phillips head screws where the original allen head screws go. I swear the screw holes are also recessed a little that have a pocket the head of the screw sits in on the factory piece. I can't tell if they do on this piece or not. Also the grain seems to be shallow compared to the surrounding dash. Im not even going to comment on the fitment of the radio, but it's not helping.

From all of the other recent posts around here this is going to take 3+ MONTHS to get done. (I'm betting on a lot longer also) I'm not sold on the color or texture either. I'm a stickler just like TxTtopZ so these couple of things are keeping me out of the group buy. Sorry guys but good luck!

I'm not trying to discourage anyone in the group buy or thinking about joining, I just want to give you the facts/heads up. I purchased mine July 19, the money was taken out immediately and I have been told that I will get an e-mail when they ship it. I am still waiting for that e-mail. So we are currently at 11 1/2 weeks and counting.
There is a couple of different pics by ringo234 on the bottom of the second page of this thread https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...-double-2.html and though they are not super clear they do show the bezel with the torx screws.....
Like I said, not trying to discourage anyone, just want to give you a heads up. Maybe a group purchase will be able to go through faster... I dunno.

By the way, the quote from the other post that goes with the pictures above by Termn8r - "As promised. Here are my pics. I agree, the texture isn't perfect, but it's really close. I actually think the screws bother me more than the texture (will have to fix that). They use an original trim and plastic weld it to fit properly because it has to be raised and lowered then they spray paint it which is why you lose some of the texture, but I am very happy with it."

Hope that explains the vinyl looking texture.
