New Speaker Advice / Recommendations
ok boys and girls, I'm looking for new speakers to replace my original 4x6s and 6x9s in my 87 IROC. I searched this site but didn't find the info I was looking for.
Anyway, I currently have a stock radio/cass. I might be upgrading that later but not yet sure. If I do upgrade, it will not be anything high-end or high-amp.
I'm just looking for good value, decent speakers that work well under normal conditions, fits without mods... nothing real loud... no amps, subs, boxes, or anything out of the ordinary is in the future of this car.
Cheers and thanks

You can still get the stock 4x6s and 6x9s if your not upgrading.

IMO, browse ebay for an aftermarket 2 channel amp. Plenty of places to hide them in 3rd gens. Aftermarket 6x9's sound like garbage when they are underpowered from factory head unit. Not a hard install, just take your time running the wire.

I have used kenwood decks and 4 channel amps and infinity kappa speakers since the 80s and I still do.

One way to pick up some nice speakers ridiculously cheap is to search through the high end import cars at the Pull-A-Part yard. Prices where I live are just over seven dollars each, so the last time I went I grabbed four 4" speakers from the door pods of a Lexus. If you want aftermarket brands look for modded tuner cars. I've gotten Polk 6x9's and Eclipse 5x7's recently that way.
If you're uncomfortable buying used stuff Ebay or Amazon would be your best bet. I have always liked the durability of Kenwood speakers and later if you want to upgrade head units Kenwood Epsilon series has lots of features and will make your speakers scream. You can grab a lower end model for not much over one hundred dollars.

Top choices seem to be Pioneer, Infinity, JBL and Kenwood
