Out with the old wall, in with the new. 6-12"s

So, Ive been running this wall for a few years now, first with four Kicker CVR DVC 12s on their ZX1000.1. Then upgraded and modded the cutouts to fit the L5 series subs, added a secondary 200a alt and Stinger battery and threw out the 1000w amp for a ZX2500.1. I also swapped the 6x9s to a beefier 400w set and made fiberglass door pods to fit pairs of 8" sealed-back mids. The 6x9s and 8s run on a Kicker ZX650.4 at 2ohms per channel and the subs run now on a pair of Audiopipe APSM2000.1 mini amps strapped into a mono block.
Tho, while loud, I still wasnt satisfied, so out with the old and in with the new. I decided to take teardown/build pix and toss up a post to share with everyone.

Some pix are good, some bad.

Re: Out with the old wall, in with the new. 6-12"s

The wall is built in two halves, top and bottom. The top slides in from the hatch and the bottom through the cabin where they are joined together and screwed/glued each supported and braced by the baffle and port.

Around the top and sides, I used Right Stuff spray foam to lock in the box to car and isolate my SPL to the front of the car, shaved it and bondo'd it so I could lay adheasive and carpet.

And then began modding and rebuilding the box to get the port dimentions and airspace needed to house 6 L5 DVC 12"s.

Being able to see out the back, passenger seats, and having hearing in the future is highly overrated anyhow.

As it was, the old box was 12.5cf tuned to 35hz and now is 13cf tuned to 40hz.

So, here's a running pic of the wall. Im in the process of re-foaming the box into the car and will post a pic tmw when the suns up. And I will post some more pix as i clean things up to a more sharable level.
All I have to say is "wow!" its painfull. Cant wait to #$$ rape the mic this year!

Ya, and i once hit a 156.4 on a 1000w amp at a shop on their meter, then went and tested on a termlab and hit 141. We compete on termlabs which is as close as you can get to true db levels.
As far as what i am trying to accomplish, exactly whatever my heart desires.
Im making my car into exactly what i want it to be, one of a kind, mine.
Around here, ask if someone has seen the Kicker Camaro and people know who youre talking about.

if you look through Basshead's album you will see how serious he is about his car

while it may be out of most thirdgen owners taste, the execution is flawless, its obvious this car is a competition car

im definitely digging the custom tails on this thing

Re: Out with the old wall, in with the new. 6-12"s

Thanks much, and i am also one who if asked for help will go out of my way to do so.
I see other 3rd gens on the road fewer and fewer as days go on. It seems that less than half are cared for and i try to catch them and see what i can do for them but less care than they should.
This car will stay on the road untill its only worthy of the track. One day id like to send my daughter to the prom, her driving with a red faced boyfriend in the passenger seat.
Hopes and dreams keep us alive.

Neat. I own my own termlab with 2 sensors. Iasca titles in spl and sq, meca titles (although I still like the db drag style of metering best).. no need to get snippy.. was a simple question. No idea about the kicker camaro, but I know we built the sema 58 vette kicker took last year, and the ugly *** avalanche they did 2 years before that. I'd not personally use kicker stuff, although there's nothing "wrong" with it per se. It wasnt an attack, just a question.

Then you know exactly why i do this. I created this thread to showcase my skill, my desire to not give up on what i want and to share with everyone an extreme side of audio that can be done in our cars, knowing full well 99% of all who look at this dont want bass this big. But i do.
Another thing, i dont take your posts as an attack, ive got enough pennies in my pocket to give your two cents back.

I'm definitely not a kicker fan,a few products I like, orion fan since the early 90s,but you still have that car audio passion,I wish I still did...after working in shops it became a job and less fun...The satisfaction when you turn it on that first time and it blows you away,priceless....congrats on the enclosure,do you have pics of the doors and alternator set up?

Ey basshead, did you ever see that tg camaro with a ridiculous amount of orion subwoofers in it, I can't remember how many, but they were everywhere,I'm sure I have it on a floppy but no reader.

Spectacular, I would love to build one of these. How long did it take you? Wish I could get a pre fab like this. My ls swap is taking up a lot of my time. How well do your t-tops fit?

Re: Out with the old wall, in with the new. 6-12"s

Thanks guys. I have a lot of pics in my album. As far as the t tops, i do wish it was a full top car being into extreme audio but they hold fine, i do get about half inch flex at the top of the windshield and the drivers top had a need to un latch when i turn it up so i made a loop on them to hold the latches closed. Id hate to loose one around a corner.
Both walls took about 3 weeks to build, this one was easier cuz all i needed to do was modify the front and top while add plenty of reinforcement inside.
