Pos / Neg Speaker Wire Question
Alrighty, so I'm installing new speakers in the front dash. Can anyone say for sure which wire is positive and which is negative? Both wires to the speakers are very light... one is gray-ish and the other is slightly tan-ish. Neither have any markings that I can see.
... or any other method for figuring it out would be helpful too.
Cheers

Re: Pos / Neg Speaker Wire Question
hook up a multi-meter to them if you can get one ... another way (if you have the factory speakers) they should be marked, or you can hook up a AA battery to the factory speaker, and see what way makes the speaker move out, then the wire that hooks to the post of the factory speaker where the +side of that AA was hooked will be the + speaker wire

Re: Pos / Neg Speaker Wire Question
I found this doing a quick google search so finding an actual schematic might be a good idea. It won't hurt anything other than being out of phase.

Re: Pos / Neg Speaker Wire Question
Thanks guys... I used the diagrams and verified with the battery trick. I was able to install the factory clips to the new speakers and will be putting it back together this coming weekend.

Re: Pos / Neg Speaker Wire Question
I couldn't wait until the weekend...
I removed the factory clip from the original speakers, then attached them to the wiring of the new speakers. Bolted in, connected the wires... Easy peasy.

Re: Pos / Neg Speaker Wire Question
All 4 speakers are now installed and they actually sound pretty decent. For anyone that hasn't done this yet... It's pathetically easy
I bought these from Walmart.com. The fronts are no problem. The rears 'might' stick out a little far for those that have plastic sails. Mine are the cardboard type and went back on without issue.
