Ultra mr me

Just got a 89 5.7 liter 25,000 mile survivor. I want to leave the car as stock as possible. Listening to radio static is getting old fast.

I bought a wired cassette and every time I put it in it will go in for a second and pop out. Is the eject button broke or am I being a dumba**? Is my eject button stuck? Doesn't seem to be.

Has anyone else used one? Thank you

I don't know if there's a way around it on this radio, but it is a feature of the radio, Tape Break Eject. Basically it was designed to automatically and immediately eject the cassette tape if the tape broke. A lifesaver back in the day because it helped or reduced the likelihood of emptying the cassette tape into your player (a REAL mess!!). Unfortunately it doesn't detect the tape rolling on your adapter and performs this "feature" when you don't want it to. There was a way around it on newer models, but I can't remember what button it was. You would hold down a button on the radio for several seconds to disable the feature. (Maybe hold down Eject for several seconds before inserting the adapter??) I doubt the '89 radio had this feature though I am sure someone else will chime in here if they have more information.
