Amp Help

So I have two amplifiers, both of which worked until today. One 250W Craig Powerplay 500 from the 90's, and one Memphis Audio 600W.

The Craig makes the sub pulse and you hear radio interference in the sub.

The Memphis outputs no sound, and during troubleshooting, now it just blows both 30A fuses.

I've tried multiple decks and RCA cables and grounding points.

Re: Amp Help

I think I would take the Memphis out and bring it up close to your battery. Replace the fuses, connect the Power and ground to their respective terminals and see if the fuses hold. If so, I'd then put another hot wire on the remote turn on. If any of these things blows the fuses, you know you have an internal problem. If not, I'd probably take it back to where it's mounted and introduce each wire you have been using one at a time and see what makes them blow. It's really odd they both acted up at the same time.

Memphis hooked straight to the battery blows fuses, it's shot. Nothing is blown though.

Yep, something inside has gone haywire. Do you plan on looking inside of it?

The Craig sure sounds like a ground problem. Maybe try substituting a ground straight from the battery just to test?

Pulled them apart, Craig fried, Memphis was clean but something still busted. Gotta buy a new one now.

Unfortunately no, I pulled it out a few days ago and scrapped it. It didn't have enough power anyway. I got my 60 bucks out of it. 2 years of use in 2 cars.
