Double din install pics 92 vert

while doing a LSX swap and waiting for my 6speed to come back to me from a rebuild, I decided to take a stab at building a double din bezel. I also wanted the radio above the hvac controls and did not just want to flip the bezel because of the gaps it leaves since the part is not square. My first real time working with fiberglass and filler and after I finished I learned and could do a better/faster job if ever again. Let me know what ya think.

while I was at it I added a few other add ons to the console

Re: Double din install pics 92 vert

There is a usb/3.5mm jack and power inverter and a power point along with another usb for the I-pod that leads to the console storage, car is a mess right now in the middle of my build but thought I would share what I have done so far

When you put on the lower dash piece it covers the top corner but on this radio its not part of the screen. the radio is the parrot smart android radio and its not a full 7inch I think its a 6.3 .

Re: Double din install pics 92 vert

Here it is with the lower piece on, the overhang does not cover any usable part of this radio.

Re: Double din install pics 92 vert

Great looking install. I just started on the same deal myself, and was wondering if you needed to do any modifications inside the dash to get the radio in. It just looks really tight in the console. Any tips or pics would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Re: Double din install pics 92 vert

My question is how do you switch the heater control around to the bottom?

Now take note that I used the Parrot smart radio for the reason that its only 4inch deep, if ya plan on moving the double din to the top there is the ip brace that comes into play but using this head unit I only had to cut back the metal brace a little. To get a full double din with a cd player in it I would say that brace would have to be removed completely and I don't know what effect that would have on the strength of the dash. The parrot is a really nice head unit it runs very smooth and does everything you can think of besides a cd player but with ipods and and all the usb ports on the thing cd are not needed.

They have enough slack on the controls to drop down to the lower spot no mods needed. you can also just flip your faceplate over and it will work with no mods just leaving very small gaps at the bottom because the faceplate is not completely square. I did not like the small gaps even though they are not very noticeable and that is why I modded mine but it will work the other way too.

Thanks 86gn. I will have to try that. Still one of the best I have seen done.
