This is a very common problem with this style radio. Just a small amount of wear on the mechanical parts of these will cause the cassette to not eject the cassette. If you can leave the radio plugged in and turn it upside down, (See pic 1) you will see a small tab in the square opening underneath the cassette deck. Using a small screwdriver, lift this tab (See pic 2) then let it go and press the eject button, the cassette shout pop out. If you have to take the radio apart, remember to remove all on the cassette buttons or they will fly everywhere. M&R electroncs in Saginaw carries these #8500 decks at $85 plus $13 shipping.

The #8500 part number is that for a new cassette mechanism (so complete unit) ?
