I just bought the Kenwood KAC-648S 4-Channel amp. Where should I mount it? I want it to be in a spot where you can't see it through any of the windows, and so it won't be in the way of any of the possible 3 other passengers. Also, I pulled a different amp out of a car, and the entire underside was covered in rust. Is there any way to prevent that? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
if you want it to be seen, just bolt it to the top of the roof. that way, when someone sees it and decides they want it, they will not have to break your glass and rip out doorlocks to get it!!

I have experience...unfortunatly,its a result of bad judgement.
Mount it in the rear "glove box" are, just make a mounting board, too easy. There would be enough airflow to it for cooling and it would be completely stealth...

I ditched spare tire and made a vertical mounting rack in the spare compartment on it I mounted three amps a big one for my subs and two smaller ones one for the fronts and tweeters and one for the rear speakers. In the oppsite side compartment I mounted a 12 Disk changer and now you can't see anything but the head unit. I did this after my rear hatch was smashed and my amp and subs were stolen a little over a year ago. So far so good and I haven't hand any problem with overheating the amps yet.

I've got an extra seat back from my old Firebird and am thinking of keeping it instead of selling it to try this idea. and installing vents with possible fans to ventilate it through the top.

My friend has his amp underneath his rear seat and his does not over heat. But a way to prevent this on larger amps is top mount a fan down there.
