Jensen 200w x2 Amp with a 10" sub and bass tube sound good?

I'd be feeding 200w into a 10" subwoofer...I am thinking about a bass tube. What are the advantages? Does it distribute the sound better? How would 200w into a single 10" woofer sound? Nice and loud?

I know you guys have had these questions asked a million times already, but thanks anyhow

Jensen blows.

How good a tube will sound will depend totally on what subwoofer is in the tube, and whether the tube offers the proper airspace for that subwoofer. In general, I like tubes because they fit nicely down in the well of the car.

I've had good luck with Jensen amps, and I believe they're a good value. However, that 200-watt rating is probably a gross exaggeration. Look at the specs; the RMS power rating is the meaningful one.

Any amp that "cuts out" is either defective, or improperly installed.

And like Jim said, it's important to get a quality woofer, and the tube should offer the proper airspace that it needs.

yeah jensen aint the greatest but as long as the RMS is high enough your sound will be okay. i personally dont know how good the bass tubes are since i used a bandpass box. i used 200 watts to push my MTX speaker and it hits hard. but i think that might be the box too.

jensen sucks, i had a 500 watt(250) RMS amp from jensen, and they do cut out, because they suck and overheat frequently...

Sure, Jensen might not be the most prestigious amp out there (you get what you pay for), but I’ve used and abused mine for 2 years now without a problem what so ever.
I can’t remember the exact model off the top of my head, but it’s a 4-channel 500w amp and I bought it at Crutchfield for about $120. It was my first install, I’ve tested 3 different budget subwoofers (10’s and 12’s) and they have all sounded great. I can make my rearview mirror come loose without blowing my ears out. I have been in many a sound wars and come off even or winning. It has never shut down or overheated, even in 100-degree temps.

I haven’t tried a tube and from what I have heard about them I have no desire to. If you want your bass nice and tight I would go with a single 10” sub in a sealed box, and with your amp, about 100w RMS, if your amp can put out that “much”

Some people have good luck with Jensen, some do not. I've owned Jensen in the past, and found out that for the exact same amount of money, there are better choices. After my 4040HLX went belly up, I replaced it with a 30x4 Pioneer that I paid the exact same amount for. That Pioneer is a better sounding amp and is more powerful, but was the same price.

$120 sounds like a hell of a price on that Jensen amp. My 4040HLX was a 50x4 (called a 500 watt amp however) that I paid $250 for from Crutchfield. After Jensen discontinued the amp, the price plummeted and there were some good deals to be had.

nah my brothers car was definately not installed improperly cuz i did it, and i just know damnit.

anyway, the only reason i could come up with it 'cutting out' was becuase it was of poor quality, and overheated frequently.
