head unit drain the battery

Why do you think the Alpin head unit is slowly draining the battery, what things should I check for. I know it is the head unit because when the fuse is not in there it does not drain the battery.

Check to see if its power source is straight to the battery or if you can run it through a key on power line.

Some head units need the power on continuously, because of the clock and such.

I would double check all your components to make sure they are all hooked up properly like stated above. If an amp, eq, etc. is hooked up directly to your battery and is continously pulling power without a remote(or keyed) wire. It will drain your battery.

If it's hooked up properly, it might be malfunctioning, or your battery may be weak. Current draw for a head unit is minimal. Very, very small current draw. It's only powering 1 or 2 IC's inside the board, so current draw would be to the tune of a few milliwatts. I've left my car parked for weeks with no problems.

Also make shure you have good grounds I recomend getting thicker wiring for you grounds the ground on my car was like the one to the starter and the other one was like a 16 gauge wire. Thats way to small. You can never have to many or big enough grounds!! I switched myn to a 4 Gauge wire.
