I've tried a couple of chain stores and they only have powered subwoofer tubes with subs and amps already in them. I don't want crap in my bass tube. If I'm going to spend money I want quality. I have yet to try Circuit City, Boomer Mcloud and Tweeter etc. Any of these places going to have one? If not where can I get one?! I'm getting a little annoyed. Also, how much should I expect to pay for an 8" or a 10" tube with straps/mounting brackets.

Any of those places should be able to order you one, but I doubt that anybody would have one in stock.
I'm a big fan of tubes (not bazookas). They're the cheapest enclosure you can get (usually $40 or $50) and the 10" fits perfectly down in the well. With a good sub they sound great and hit hard.

Jim, I'm also looking for a bass tube or sealed enclosure. I have an MTX 1502 amp to power the subwoofer(s) with and am looking for some clean, crisp bass to fill in the sound (not looking for SPL). If I go the tube route what are the better subwoofers that work well in a tube? I've looked at Infinity Kappa (seem to like sealed enclosures the best based on the freq response), MTX 6000s and the Pioneer IMPPs. As you know there is a significant difference in price with all three but what's the best bang for the buck given what I'm looking for in terms of sound quality?

As far as a sub is concerned, a tube is no different than any other style enclosure. Just make sure that the sub you buy is well suited for the enclosure volume that the tube provides. Buying a sealed (vs. ported) tube will make this task much easier.

A ported box needs to be the proper size and have proper port area or it sucks hard. Good luck finding a ported tube that meets your needs. Sealed enclosures are substantially more forgiving so speaker & tube compatibility is much easier to achieve.
