opinons on baffles

what does everyone think about the baffles are they worth the moneny or are the complete crap.

most 6x9s are free-air, and putting a baffle in kinda distorts the sound. Sometimes they flutter and make annoying noises.

Never used the plate, but from everybody's opinion on this board, and what I know about speaker enclosures, it will never sound as good as a sealed box. I just finished making my own box, and it only ran me about $25 worth of materials.

I know it's easier to just stick the board in there, but take the time and build the box, or save up and buy one; it will be worth it.
