I can only comment on RF and MTx.

MTX: Amps seem quite nice but not cheap. Only know one guy with an MTX amp, and for its size its sounds real good. Powers 2 polk 10's very nicely. I've had some cheap MTX subs before, they weren't bad and quite efficient. Their newer ones are not bad either.

RF: Amps are expensive but from what i've heard real good. The basic subs are about as good as anything else for the same price, but their next step up ones aren't bad. IMO RF and MTX subs are about on par with each other if you match product to price. But what do i know?

MTX are both similar in quality and build. both are kinda expensive, but both worth it. don't go just by the numbers on the box; both of these companies underrate their products. another one on this level is kicker. all three are good. infinity makes some pretty good stuff for the money. i've had a couple pairs of their kappas, nuthin but pleased. they respond best when amped a bit. their perfect line of subs is rated quite highly for their great sound quality. alpine is also great for sound quality, but also a bit on the expensive side. their type-r subs are also quite well know for their great sound quality for a good price. i recently bought a 12" DVC type-r, but havent had time to put it in. their V12 amps can hold their own in SQ, and some of their headunits are very nice. not to repeat whats been said a hundred times before, but you get what you pay for. IMHO, you cant go wrong with any of these companies if you make sure to do some research beforehand on what you're lookin for.

That is what I thought....you don't hear much about Alpine Amps and Subs.....I thought they were good but did not know how to racked up with the really popular guys. I have an older Alpine Head Unit Looks to be late 90s, an older Alpine 4 way amp rated at 50 RMS per channel(but people claim them to be underrated). I use them to power the New Infinity Kappas(The White Ones.....I installed them this summer and forget the numbers....they are the best I could get....4x6s 60RMS and 6x9 110). Anyway they sound really really good. Now that I heard that Alpine stuff could compete then I think I would like two 2 channel V12s to pweor two Alpine 10"....what match would be a good one to go along with my exsisting setup....

well, the alpine type-r's are 300 watts RMS/ 600 watts peak. thats the 12" specs, but it think the 10" arent much off. you can go to alpine's website, www.alpine.com, to find out more of the specs. i ordered my sub from www.ikesound.com. if you order from their site, you get free shipping. on top of that, the prices are some of the cheapest i've found around. but be forewarned, many companies do not honor warrentees on online sales. however, some of the sites have their own, so its a give and take.

depends really on what you want in your system.. do you want it so sound loud or good? some people think those are synonymous.. i dont personally but, its your call.. for audiophiles, id recommend infinity perfect subs, and the top-of-the-line infinity speakers.. dont get their lower quality ones get the perfect components, or the kappa 462.3cpf, etc.. if you can afford it that is as far as amps go too, again.. quality or loud thump? once again, i prefer quality.. and honestly, the kenwood excelon amps are the way to go.. again, if you can afford it if you just want your bass to vibrate the car 2 lanes down.. i honestly dont know heh, like i said.. i like to listen to *music* but.. sometimes some thump is cool sorry for the length.. quality = infinity + kenwood excelon

I bought a set of the Infinity Reference 6 1/2" components and I like them quite well. Considering the cost of $114.00 on ebay they kick *** and have good SQ. I'm growing very fond of Alpine cause I'm powering 2-12" Kenwood subs with an old school Alpine 3554 amp! Yep we're talking about 10-12 years old and it still slams my Subs. I bought it new and it is still going strong. How many amps can do that? I've also had alot of Kenwood stuff too. And their Headunits are pretty good, Amps are fairly good, and their Speakers suck! I've never had MTX and don't want any(just my opinion). RF I've never owned but they do make some killer stuff.
Eventually I plan on going Alpine Headunit & Amps with Image Dynamics Highs-Mids-Subs. Thats the ultimate goal!

I want to get two 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect's(all white). They push out about 1400W a sub. The only problem I am going to experience is getting an amp to decently power them. Maybe I will just get like MTX 6000 to hold me off until I can afford to dump a shyte load of money into my system.

While I agree that the Infinity Perfect 12.1 are very nice subs especially for the price. But if you're planning on throwing alot of power to these pups you'd better hang out in the factory specs of 350watts RMS not at the 1400watt peak. I've heard alot of complaints about them not handling alot of power and I'm sure that's due to it being such an efficient speaker(s/n of 96db). Those who have thrown more power to them have had to pick up the pieces. But it does have a 3yr warrenty ! Check out this link. http://www.carreview.com/PRD_3784_1808crx.aspx

mudaholic, dont tell me you're actually being serious. granted, i've had kenwood headunits and loved them, but there are much better amps out their for the same price as the excelons. not knocking the company, but you can get nakamichi, alpine, or ample audio amps for less than or equal to that of the excelons. and they'll sound much better.

amps. blown plenty of them or pawned off..
first off.. MTX.. no complaints.. lower end stuff bits.. mid to high end stuff is damn good for the price.. their amps arn't too.. too bad.. but not my first choice.. nice budget stuff..
Rockford.. never delt with the lower end stuff.. ther amps are seriouslly underated (had a power 200a1 (200 rms mono) powering 2 MTX thunder 6000's (4 ohm)no problem).. we tested it and it gave out 342 rms.. so.. go figure.. never touched their subs but i've heard many nice things about them..
Alpine.. is.. for the best quality of sound.. it's not for the "all i want to do is make stuff shake" ppl.. but it's the clearest, best in my opinion. decks, speakers, amps (really underated.. go V12), subs are really nice and clear.
Phenix Gold.. subs are ok.. amps (the non digital ones) are very powerfull.. expensive tho.. the digital series is astronomicaly priced but they have digital eq's and u can program them throught a lap top (ok, over the top?)
pionner.. decks.. are.. annoying.. the picture on it gets annoying so u turn it off and then somebody wants to see it and it's in the corner of u'r eye and.. well.. if you get used to it they got lots of nice features.. their amps, i have no clue.. do they have amps?.. subs.. now the competition ones are pretty good.. installed them in a few mustangs and they can be somewhat underpowered.. but they're a good mixure of quality and pound..
Boston Acuoustic.. nearly indestructable sub from what i've seen.. or i've seen wrong.. (pro-comp series).. expensive but not overly so.. good quality and sound.. this is my next set of subs (dunno if i want to go 10 or 12 with these)
cerwin vega (yeah.. they make more then home audio).. the IT series are good for small boxed areas.. pound hard.. somewhat clear.. can take lots of power.. don't like to be underpowered.. the vega's require lods of area.. and are to be vented.. otherwise warrenty is void (designed to be vented).. the stroker series.. extreamly expensive but damn.. extreamly clear and have a hard hit to them.. require lots of area (as the vega vega series) their amps are decent..
i can't think of anything else i've delt with..
hope this helps somebody.

5) Speakers I'd say Infinity. They have always sounded good to me. Although Boston Acoustics rule.

Thanks
