2BBL. Rochester Varajet

Is it posible to get better performance out of my 2bbl. Rochester Varajet. i'm noticing at like 2200 rpm when i hit the gas to take off to go faster a slight hesitation, almost like a bogging. My friend told me it might be my acelerator pump is shot. Maybe i just need to tune it. What do you guys think?

Oh BABY, that's a carb I'd like to forget! You think tuning a Qjet is lost art, just TRY to find someone who knows about the VaraJet!!! An electronically controlled one, no less!

Like Clint Eastwood says: "A man's got to know his limitations." This is MY limitation!

What I CAN tell you is how to check proper accelerator pump functioning. Same for every carb. Look down the primary barrels (excuse me, in your carb's case BARREL, singular- since yours is a progressive 2-barrel design) of the carb. Open the throttle by hand. you should see a needle-sized steady stream of gas shoot out from the side and break against the booster venturi in the middle of the main venturi. If the stream is weak, intermittent, or has a bunch of bubbles or air in it, you friend could be right.
