fuel pump question

last week i swapped my motor and trans out of my 87 ta , it was 305 cc q-jet, the car that i put it into was an 89 v-6 mfpi, i hooked everything up and went to crank on it and it started to gush gas out of the top of my car so i un-hooked the fuel pump in the tank and she runs fine for the most part but now my fuel gauge dosent work, if i hook the pink wire that controls the gauge it works, but with having the one wire, will it run the pump in the tank at all......?

You can't run a carbed motor on a MPFI fuelpump. You'll need to either change the pump, or put on a 3 port bypass-style regulator.

You can get one from Summit or Jegs, and they run about $80.
Better off replacing the pump.
